Enjoy the scenic highlights of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park and keep a look out for the wildlife! This 60 minute cruise on board a glass bottom boat takes in the ruggedly spectacular coastlines of Penguin, Seal & Bird Islands and takes advantage of the best wildlife spotting opportunities.
Winter time is penguin nesting season! To ensure minimal disturbance to the penguins during this time, the Department of Parks & Wildlife traditionally closes Penguin Island to the public. However, for the first time ever, there is authorisation to take a limited number of visitors on an escorted walk on Penguin Island!
Your 60 minute cruise onboard this glass bottom boat takes in the ruggedly spectacular coastlines of Penguin, Seal & Bird Islands. As you cruise through the wildlife conservation zone of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park you will get a chance to explore the rugged islands and view nesting pelicans, cormorants and spot other sea birds that live in the park. Visit the osprey’s nest on Gull Rock whilst drifting over sea grass meadows and limestone reefs.
You will also visit ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ to view the fossilized remnants of ancient tuart forests. A huge variety of Australian wildlife is regularly sighted on these islands and our friendly crew will get you right amongst the action. After the 60 minute cruise you will be dropped on Penguin Island where your guide will take you for a 30 minute walk to explore all that the island has to offer.
