Dive in at the deep end for the ultimate test of your nerves with this thrilling underwater guided tour that allows you to explore SEA LIFE Sydney's four million litre Oceanarium in full scuba equipment. You'll come face to face with grey nurse sharks, seven gill sharks, giant stingrays and an abundance of exotic fish during this dive, with fully qualified instructors there to ensure you get the absolute most from this exhilarating, never to be forgotten experience.

Suitable for both certified and non certified divers, your experience will begin with an Introduction to Scuba Diving briefing and pool skills session prior to you taking the plunge and will conclude with an afternoon theory class where you can reflect on just how energising and uplifting your dive left you feeling.

Session Length

Please allow two and a half hours for this experience including training
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your experience
Available 8am, 11am, 2pm on weekends only

Restrictions

Before booking your Shark Dive, please note that you cannot drink alcohol the night before the dive and cannot fly in an aircraft within 12 hours of your dive.

Guidelines

Minimum age is 14 years old
Those between 14 and 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult
This experience is for weekend bookings only
Participants must be able to swim
If you have a medical condition (eg. asthma), or are currently ill or pregnant, you shouldn't participate
If you have a pre existing condition but still want to dive, you must get medical clearance rom a qualified dive doctor before booking your dive
All non certified divers are required to complete medical declaration on the day
Scuba Diving is physically demanding and can be dangerous if participants suffer from certain medical conditions
It is very important that any divers do not suffer from any contraindications to diving
If you are booking a dive or purchasing a gift voucher for another person, please ensure the recipient is aware of the medical requirements
You must be able to lift and walk with approximately 35kg and be in good health
Personal underwater cameras are not permitted on Shark dives
SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium will refuse admittance to any person who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or behaving badly in an offensive or uncooperative manner
Divers must be able to speak English

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience
This experience is non refundable

Numbers on the Day

Maximum of five participants per session.

Dress Code

Please bring your swimwear and a towel. If you have your own mask and full length wetsuit please feel free to bring them along.

Absolutely loved this experience, the dive team were fantastic, really enjoyed my first try at scuba and felt very comfortable in the water even with the sharks 🦈 highly recommend!

Shark feeding Cancelled 3 days out

The experience was cancelled a few days out with the only explanation "Due to circumstances beyong our control" ..This was for my husbands 60th and we had organised all the family to be there.We have rebooked but not happy

I was given this voucher for my birthday and expected to be put into a cage to view the sharks but no! we actually went into the tank in the aquarium with them swimming around us. i had no experience with diving before but they taught us all the basics before going in, even for the people in our group who knew how to dive already. the team was very friendly and kind and they did say you can't touch any of the animals in the tank which is understandable [even though i would never], however a stingray did smack into me while swimming past which was awesome! i thought i would be scared or even awkward but i was happy and excited the whole time 10/10 would recommend.

Exiciting for a first time diver but underwhelming

The shark dive at Sea Life Sydeny aquarium would be very exciting for a first time diver but we found it underwhelming compared to diving in the open ocean. You are not actually 'swimming' with the sharks. You kind of just get into the water and stand in the one spot for 20 mins leaning over the tunnel and watching the sharks, fish, stingrays etc from under the water.

Diving with the sharks was a must do for any shark

I'll start by saying its not a bad experience but the main let down is that you are maneuvered to 2 spots in aquarium for photos and that's it; you do not really move much or explore the aquarium, its an experience designed to get you a photo with a grey nurse shark. The sharks themselves are lovely and do come very close but again it just felt like a bit of a tourist trap.
