Escape the bustle of the city and get amongst nature with a hiking adventure from Waterfall Gully to Mt Lofty combined with a wildlife experience at Cleland. Your guide will lead you on a 4km trek to the picturesque summit, followed by a 2km trail to Cleland to engage with some unique wildlife.
Enjoy a short scenic drive from the city to Cleland National Park for a day out amongst nature and wildlife. You'll start your day at the trailhead of Adelaide's most popular hike at Waterfall Gully, to start your 4km trek to Mt Lofty. Follow your guide at your set pace and expect to take 1-2 hours wandering through the wilderness and coming across waterfalls and gully ridges before reaching the summit. You'll be rewarded with panoramic views overlooking the stunning Adelaide Plains, Gulf St. Vincent and beyond.
Grab a coffee at the summit cafe and take a moment to soak up the fresh mountain air, before taking the trails again and jumping on a bush track that will take you to Cleland Wildlife Park. Here you'll have spend the afternoon exploring the vast 35-hectare park at your own leisure with plenty of spectacular wildlife to see. Enjoy walking freely amongst the animals, hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies, visit the wetland birds, and meet the cutest inhabitants with a close up encounter with the koalas. Enjoy a scenic drive back to the city to end an unforgettable day.

This experience runs in all weather conditions. Should the weather be deemed unsafe to operate by management, you will be contacted by email or SMS as soon as possible to reschedule your booking. If you do not receive a notification from us prior to your session, you may safely assume that your experience will be going ahead. Unfortunately, there may be some instances where bursts of extreme weather are not forecasted, which may result in the session being cancelled upon arrival.
Please wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and bring a small lightweight backpack for personal items. Bring a full reusable water bottle which can be refilled for free at Mount Lofty Summit with fresh spring water.
Entry fee includes the koala 'close up' experience (meet, interact and photograph a koala). An optional koala 'hold' experience is available for an additional fee from AUD$33.00 pp. The koala 'hold' experience cannot be pre-booked. Please note that due to animal welfare regulations, the koala experiences can be cancelled by the park without notice. Also note, they do not operate on days forecast above 32 degrees Celsius (Mount Barker). COVID restrictions may also temporarily affect the availability of all animal encounters/experiences, please refer to Cleland Wildlife Park’s official website for updates.
