Visit Mulligans Flat when it comes alive after dark and see if you can spor Eastern Bettongs, Eastern Quolls and many more elusive nocturnal animals. Your guide will take you deep into the sanctuary, inside the predator-proof fence, where native animals are thriving in the absence of foxes and cats.

Enjoy a twilight walking tour in a critically endangered ecosystem with a trained guide, searching for animals extinct from mainland Australia for over 120 years. You'll borrow a red-light torch to help illuminate your walk through the box gum grassy woodlands where you will be able to observe various kangaroo and wallaby species feeding in their natural environment and with a bit of luck you may even spot the Eastern Bettong foraging on native truffles in the wild, or see a tiny sugar glider eating nectar from the top of a flowering eucalyptus tree. You may even hear the distant cry of the Bush Stone-curlew as these birds awaken to search for insects in the grassy woodland.

You will learn about these animals' stories, history, and connections to the landscape as you explore the sanctuary after dark and get inspired by learning how science is enhancing our understanding and ability to restore these critically endangered woodlands.

Important information

  • This experience is approximately two and a half hours in duration
  • The experience will cover up to four kilometres of walking
  • Walking will be slow and the ground is generally level and even
  • Guests will get on a small bus and taken to the best area to spotlight that night
  • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

The maximum group size for this experience is 10 people.

Tours will run in light rain. Tours will be cancelled in the case of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, extreme heat and high winds gusting over 35km/h

Please wear comfortable enclosed shoes and weather appropriate gear.

A lovely way to spend an evening

We were given this tour as a gift, and it was a wonderful experience m. Our guide was knowledgeable and had great eyes spotting animals far more quickly than either of us! If we had wandered the area by ourselves I’m sure we would have seen less than half the animals we saw! We were able to set our own pace, which was great also, enabling us to enjoy the experience the way we wanted
