Ever imagined working with wonderful seals? Well now you can by becoming a Seal Trainer for a day! During this 3.5 hour hands-on experience, you'll become part of the SEA LIFE Marine Mammal Team and gain access to different behind the scenes areas, as well as participate in their seal show!

Experience the thrill of being a trainer to a gorgeous family of seals! During this 3.5 hour experience, you'll gain behind the scenes access and get to know what it's really like in 'a day in the life' of a seal trainer.

Your day will kick off with a special tour of Seal Island's behind the scenes area. After meeting the team, you'll step in the spotlight to participate in their seal presentation, followed by a seal photo and encounter experience. After this, you're back into your role to learn about training techniques as well as participate in feeding and health checks.

Take a break and tuck into a complimentary lunch before receiving a personal tour of their Turtle Rehabilitation Area. Next, you'll take the plunge for an unforgettable swim and play session with the beautiful seals. You'll then be free to spend the day of the rest discovering the thousands of marine and freshwater animals, including sharks, crocodiles and tropical fish.

To help you feel like part of the team, you'll receive a souvenir t-shirt to wear on the day. You will also be given digital copies of all photographs from the day to forever remember the special experience!

On the Day

Session Length

  • SEA LIFE Mooloolaba is open from 9am to 5pm every day excluding Christmas Day and Anzac Day with last admissions 1 hour prior to closing time. As you enter you will receive a re-entry stamp which allows you to come and go as much as you like throughout the day
  • The trainer experience commences at 10:30am and runs for 3.5 hours

Numbers on the Day

This experience is only available to one participant per day. There is one-on-one interaction with our keepers. You will meet several keepers/trainers throughout the day.

Dress Code

Participants must wear enclosed footwear and bring along a swimsuit and towel.

Guidelines

  • Minimum age is 13 years
  • Participants under 18 years of age must have their legal guardian or parent present to sign forms
  • Participants need to be capable swimmers and understand the English language for health and safety instructions from staff
  • If you have seafood allergies you may not be able to participate - please check with reservations before booking
  • This experience cannot be undertaken whilst pregnant
  • For the safety of animals, all jewellery and piercings must be removed before entering the water
