Cruise in comfort on Hervey Bay's newest, state of the art eco-vessel, the Ocean Defender. Enjoy a fast, smooth ride offering panoramic views of the area as you head out to sea in search of the majestic humpback whale. The tour is led by certified marine naturalists who provide expert interpretation on the whales behaviour, as well as facts and findings from their ongoing research studies. As an exclusive, you'll get the chance to interact with an on-board whale researcher and listen to live whale songs through underwater hydrophones. This experience is three hours in duration, departing at 8am, 12pm or 3:30pm
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to departure

Restrictions

No Children 5 years and under. Vessel is not Wheelchair accessiable or suitable for people with mobility issues.

Whale Sightings Guaranteed between July 16th and October 9th. The minimum age limit for children traveling on this whale watching cruise is 6 yrs+.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

This experience runs with a maximum of 38 passengers.

Weather

The weather in Hervey Bay can be unpredictable at times, but most conditions will not affect your whale watch. If the Captain decides to cancel the trip due to poor weather, you will be rescheduled for a later date or refunded if you are unable to travel at a later date.

Dress Code

Flat, closed-toe footwear, a jacket or rain gear, and sun protection is highly recommended.

Had an enjoyable 3 hours. Very informative and we saw WHALES. Boat trip was fun - choppy enough for bumps and getting wet.

Whdn booking you had no idea what the boat looked like. It was small and open. Very cold and wet. Have been whale watching before and it was very pleasant. Not this time

Great staff, made a rather bumpy ride out enjoyable and informative. They did stay out longer than expected, but that was to ensure we had the best chance of seeing the whale pods. Ended up seeing 3 sleepy pairs and at the last min a pair of rather "slap happy" Calves hitting the water several times. Thanks to Leigh & Millie for lovely arvo.

Bucket List Experience

This was an amazing experience for our family. The boat was great and the crew was super helpful, knowledgeable and passionate the ocean and its creatures. We saw four sets of mother's and their babies. One curious set of whales stayed around the boat for 45 minutes! They happily played around the boat, swimming under the boat and eyeing us off. Everyone onboard got lots of amazing pics and received an up-close and personal experience that will never be forgotten.
