You will find a range of chocolate making classes available at RedBalloon, each experience differing slightly with what is included. However, at our classes you’ll learn to make your own chocolate including how to temper it, the history and different types of chocolate, create your own moulds, and the ingredients and preparation involved before creating your own homemade, gourmet chocolate. You will be taught by a chocolatier, who will guide you step by step throughout the experience. Your class will also include the chocolate making recipe, how to make the ganache using cacao or cocoa powder and finish off with decorating your delicious creations.

What types of chocolate will I learn to make?

During your class, you’ll learn about the history of this food, what is involved for making chocolate and try your hand at different types. This will include turning melted chocolate into ganache and filling as well as making chocolate curls, Belgian couverture chocolate, dark chocolate, freckles, chocolate lollipops, desserts and more.

At RedBalloon, you’ll find we offer chocolate making classes for kids. The 2 hour chocolate workshop will satisfy their sweet tooth during the interactive workshop designed especially for kids. They will begin with a fun game to learn everything about chocolate before their free to let their imaginations run wild as they make tasty chocolate lollipops and cake balls. Your child will expand their knowledge and learn culinary skills, followed by chocolate tasting and finishing with decorating before getting to take home their treats.

How to prepare for a chocolate making class?

It is super easy to prepare for chocolate making workshop as everything will be provided for you on the day including ingredients, equipment, recipes and instructions. The only thing you need to worry about are:

  • Dietary requirements: at the time of booking, please let the cooking school know of any allergies or dietary requirements so they are able to accommodate you as best as possible during your class.
  • Clothing requirements: we suggest wearing comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes for safety reasons (please no slip on, open toed shoes). If you have long hair, we recommend tying this up to keep it off your face and out of the way whilst cooking. Please check with the cooking school if you are required to bring your own apron or if one will be provided for you on the day.
  • Allow plenty of time to get there. Look up directions prior to leaving and ensure you arrive slightly early, around 10 minutes before your experience starts.
