Why You'll Love This

What's Included?

  • The star name, the date of registration, the constellation and astronomical coordinates of the star are notated on a 30 x 40cm parchment certificate of record
  • A large astronomical chart (30 x 40cm) pinpoints the location. The star is clearly plotted and circled in red, with the constellation formation highlighted in yellow. The name of the star, the date of registration and all other data relevant to the star, including its brightness, are printed on the chart
  • A booklet Our Place in the Cosmos gives an introduction to astronomy and contains a pictorial constellation chart for orientation purposes
  • Everything is packaged in a folder and sent in a custom made flat box that is ready for presentation

How do you name a star? You nominate the constellation, the date of registration, and, most importantly, the name you are giving to the star. All the instructions on how to do this will be sent to you upon receipt of your booking. What are you giving?

Please note The star you are naming is not visible to the naked eye. You need a 150mm telescope to see it. Only about 3000 stars are visible to the naked eye. These stars are not available for naming (and never have been) because they already have scientific and historical names. Naming a star through the International Star Registry is not recognised by the scientific community. The star's name appears in the International Star Registry records only. The stars named are not 'owned', nor is their scientific identification altered.

... and Importantly

  • Once purchased, the supplier will email you the information on how to name the star in order to personalise the chart and certificate - - Make sure to check your spam/junk folder for this email.
  • To complete the process, reply with the star naming details.
