We stoped for our 2 course meal and drink at 6:00pm, which was an experience in itself. The restaurant was equal to fine dining but with bathrobes on everyone seated. The food was of great quality, portion sizes were ample and the sevice was lovely. The bathing experience was a truly tranquil experience. Being a clean-freak myself, I was very impressed by the cleanliness and high level of hygience at Alba. The water in the pools, the bathrooms, the steam room and sauna, all very clean. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Lunch at the Restaurant was horrible Chris 13 June 2026 When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told quite clearly "you have two courses, and 2 complimentary drinks. All drinks except Spirits and Alchohol". We waited 20 minutes to then get to place our order after we went to the counter to chase them up. We then waited another 30 minutes for the entrees having ordered two sparkling wines. The Caviar on the entree was chewy and almost was unbreakable between teeth. We asked if we could pay for three extra glasses and take the bottle (we had done this once before about 2 weeks ago) and this was refused. So we said we would take the two complimentary and then purchase 2 more at the end of the meals. About another 45 minutes, i went inside (we were seated outside) to find out where our mains were. The response from the waitress was that they had not put them through yet, but would now. Waiting another 30 minutes for our mains to come by now we had been at the restaurant far too long, we ordered the additional 2 drinks to be ready for when we finished eating and could go with the drinks into the bathing (this was allowed). Without the drinks, and the meal finished i again ventured in to follow up where our drinks were and ensure everything was settled and we also wanted 2 waters. They handed me a bill for $118? It was then explained that they gave us champagne, which was not included into the package was was only discounted for the 2 - but the other two being prepared were $64 for 2 glasses. Its not a special champage, it is Veuve which you can buy at Dan Murphys for $80 a bottle. So their bill came to 2 x at half price and 2 for $64. At no time did they warn us that the champagne was not included, and was only discounted. the time to prepare meals was extraordinary, arriving at 1 it was nearly 4 by the time we got into the bathing, the sun was dropping at the air was cooling. It made the whole experience absolutely horrible. We have been to Alba many times, and normally would choose it over Peninsula Springs, but this was just a shockingly bad experience which made for a terrible day. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Great Experience, misleading T&C’s from redballoon Luke 15 December 2025 The experience itself was great, but RedBalloon’s booking process and terms and conditions were misleading. I would return to the spa, but not via RedBalloon. There was no mention in the listing or terms and conditions that Saturdays in December were unavailable. Only after attempting to book was I told my chosen Saturday was blocked. This forced us to attend on a Sunday evening instead. The spa is 1.5 hours away and open until 10pm, but we had to leave early, missed part of the experience, and got home late on a work night, something that would not have happened with a Saturday booking. RedBalloon were unhelpful when this was raised and did not take responsibility for the lack of clarity. Customers should not be discovering major booking restrictions only after they’ve paid. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Recommended Tip top first time visit to Alba Lou 29 September 2025 First time visiting Alba after many years of visiting the Hot Springs across the road. We had a dine and spa visit over 4 hours. I'd only ever heard good things about Alba so was prepared to be wowed. It does look a bit like a prison when you drive up so that was interesting. But, once inside it's quite modern and there's plenty of space. The pools are far enough apart that you don't feel top hemmed in. It's been planted out really well using indigenous plants. The lighting is good and the pools seem well maintained and it's extremely clean. Our 2 course meal was lovely, good quality local ingredients apparently and the wine list was actually quite reasonable using local wineries too which is always a good touch. The only thing I'd say is that the 2 course meal took 1 hr 40 mins in total due to the service being slow and the sides not turning up until after we'd finished the main meal. That all said, the food was of a high standard and absolutely delicious. Positives: definitely less swamped than their neighbours. I'd say more adult as well. I like that there is a medical alert button at each pool. The aesthetic is good and the restaurant was of good quality. Negatives: None really. I'd never hold mediocre service against a restaurant, it's not the end of the world, the meals themselves were great and it all depends on the variables of the night.
