Defying gravity has its challenges and rewards. If the prospect of leaping from an airborne plane, free as a bird, cushioned by the clear blue sky, excites you, RedBalloon has the answer. We offer a range of Australian skydiving activities, Australia wide from Victoria and NSW, to Western Australia and anywhere in between, you'll enjoy breathtaking backdrops during your jump. From tandem skydiving over the beach to jumps over the outback, you'll be spoilt for choice and location. At RedBalloon, some of our customers' favourite and most picturesque locations include Byron Bay, Brisbane and Wollongong to name a few.

With the help of highly trained technicians, you will be provided with the safety, comfort and know-how of how to skydive like a pro, while overcoming any fear factor. You'll encounter exhilaration with a free-fall from up to15,000ft above sea, making it an experience you'll never forget. We offer skydiving deals Australia-wide that are within your price range, making it easier than ever to book in that bucket list experience you've always dreamed of doing.

What is tandem skydiving?

A tandem skydive involves two people jumping out of an aeroplane strapped together throughout the experience. The person at the back is the trained instructor who will guide the second skydiver at the front (usually a rookie) through the entire jump from exit, free-fall, piloting the canopy and landing. The instructor will be a licensed skydiver with plenty of experience so the passenger will be in safe hands throughout the tandem skydive.

What should I wear skydiving?

When you're skydiving it is recommended to wear lightweight, comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movability. We also suggest wearing light, firm-fitting footwear, such as a good runner that will have you looking and feeling the part. Inclement or wild weather precludes skydiving activity, so you’ll need clear skies and fine, temperate conditions to maximise this thrill-seeking experience of a lifetime. Call and check directly with the supplier on the day if clouds are gathering and rain is forecast. You'll also find some drop locations that provide you with a full piece suit to wear during your skydive.

How long does skydiving last?

The length of your skydiving experience can vary depending on the location and how high you jump from. If you pick a 15,000ft jump, you'll experience a thrilling free-fall lasting up to 60 seconds before the canopy opens and you float back down the ground for anywhere between 5-7 minutes. All up you should allow a couple of hours for your experience to include checking in, safety briefing, the aeroplane flight and of course the skydive.

Where to skydive?

Wherever you’re located in Australia, RedBalloon has you covered. With breathtaking vistas that are only afforded by a bird’s-eye view, skydiving the beach in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Byron Bay, Rockingham or Rottnest Island, the Sunshine or Gold Coast, Great Ocean Road, St Kilda Beach to Perth and Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, or rural landscapes at their picturesque best over Victoria’s Yarra Valley is assured with a host of incredible packages from RedBalloon. Before stepping outside your comfort zone, you may wish to consider our unforgettable skydiving deals at any of these prime destinations throughout Australia.

What should I know before going skydiving?

Expect the unexpected! Apart from an initial overwhelming bodily and psychological fear, free-falling at 200 kilometres per hour for 45 to 60 seconds is guaranteed to induce goosebumps, perspiration, heightened blood pressure, sharpened senses, or all of the above. It’s a thrilling rush like never before and your fitness levels and medical wellbeing should be in tiptop shape to withstand these sensory pressures. When you’re in the air, just in case you forget, remember to breathe. This may sound like an obvious statement, but upon jumping out of the plane, people sometimes forget to exhale as they are so overwhelmed by the wild rush. Importantly, remember to live in the moment. Tandem skydiving is incredibly safe and instructors comply with the highest safety standards. Relax, smile and enjoy the ride. Reassuring, skilled and friendly instructors are trained to help make the experience so memorable that you’ll want to do it all over again.

There are plenty of amazing skydive experiences on offer at RedBalloon! Don’t know which one to pick? Don’t worry, you can always choose a gift voucher and decide later. A gift voucher can be used to purchase any skydiving package available on RedBalloon. Find out more about our gift vouchers.

“The world is made up of two groups of people; those who have been skydiving and those who have not. I thought I would always be the latter. However, my team at work had other ideas, they sent me on the experience and it was better than I could have imagined” – Naomi Simson, November 2021.
