If you dream of turning off your phone, saddling up & heading out into the Victorian High Country then this adventurous day ride may be just the ticket. You’ll be matched with a kind and surefooted horse before exploring the eucalypt forests, crystal clear rivers, mountain passes and local wildlife.
This adventurous day ride gives you access to a beautiful section of the Victorian High Country that’s remote and off the main tourist track. Whether you want to venture deep into the bush or enjoy views of the stunning surrounds, your host can organise a day ride that’ll inspire you.
There are around 75 horses on the mountain property and whether you’re a novice or an experienced rider, you’ll be matched with a horse that you’ll love. You will both be sent on your way with a packed lunch to enjoy on the trail.
Rides are led by seasoned guides who will brief the group before departure and provide instruction for beginner riders. Rides will be taken at the pace of the least experienced rider in the group. However, more accomplished riders in the group may be able to break away to go a bit faster (depending on terrain, group size and guide numbers).
Children are also welcome to ride. However, children under ten must be on a lead unless they can trot or canter independently. Adequate notice is required to ensure the team have the appropriate number of guides required to take children riding.
Once this experience has been confirmed changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy.
The price quoted is for one person. The maximum group size will be 12 people.
This experience operates in mountain country which is subject to sudden, unpredictable weather changes. The itinerary may be changed on the day to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers. If the experience needs to be postponed due to unsuitable weather, you will be contacted so your ride can be rescheduled.
Please wear comfortable long pants, a long-sleeved shirt and closed toed, flat soled shoes. You are encouraged to bring your own waterproof gear but can supply oilskin coats for rainy conditions if needed. Current Australian Safety Standard 3838 helmets are supplied and these must be worn by all riders. If you don’t wear a helmet you don’t ride. Riding chaps and a limited range of riding boots are also available for loan.
Riders are asked to sign disclaimer forms before riding. Riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them. Be aware that you are participating in a high-risk adventure activity and that you are taking responsibility for your own decisions and actions. It is strongly recommended that you have ambulance cover and appropriate insurance. First aid and mobile communications are carried on our rides. As rides go into remote areas a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. The experience provider reserves the right to change itineraries or to cancel rides to ensure the safety and comfort of riders and horses. The experience provider reserves the right to refuse permission to ride if a rider is drug or alcohol affected.
