Get ready for a beautiful night under the stars, learning about the stories of the southern skies and sharing a delicious dinner with fellow astronomy lovers. Join Night Sky Secrets, who have been operating astronomy tours and presentations since 2009, on this 3 hour astronomy tour located just 1 hours drive from Cairns city centre. After arriving at the dark sky wilderness site, joint the rest of the group for a hot meal as the sun sets, and watch as the sky slowly reveals its beautiful display of stars. You will next head out on your tour, witnessing nebula, galaxies, star clusters and planets using large aperture telescopes & a laser on this fully guided tour. Learn about the incredible ancient star tales with tea around the campfire before heading back to Cairns for arrival around 10:30pm. These tours are perfect for curious star gazers all the way to the experienced astronomer seeking to see the delights of the Australian skies during the tropical dry season.
Tours are subject to a minimum number of 6 guests to operate. Tours are limited to a maximum of 16 guests.
No spectators are present apart from distant campers on the property.
All tours are weather dependent and a call in the weather will be made by noon on the day of the tour at the latest. Only total and unrelenting cloud cover will a cause for a cancellation.
As it is a bushland location sensible enclosed shoes are needed. Long pants and bringing a pullover is recommended as tablelands nights can be cool.
Participants are to contact the supplier by SMS on 0417 601490 on the day of the tour to ensure directions are understood and participation is confirmed. Please note bookings are on request until confirmed by the supplier.
