Experience both the thrill and tranquility of twilight racing on Sydney Harbour. You can either have a go pulling ropes with the crew or simply sit back and enjoy the views as the sun sets over Sydney. You will feel like part of the crew by the end of the race.

Join the local sailing club as you race anywhere up to 100 or so boats competing in a twilight race across the harbour. This is a great introduction to sailing in a competitive and safe environment and a perfect way to de-stress from your day. Several regular crew will sail Pilgrim, a beautiful 58 foot custom built yacht, around the course. Jump on board as the boat is being set up for racing at 5pm. Then you will be given all the instruction you need for the race and are encouraged to get involved as much as you would like during the race.

Sailors and non sailors are welcome to enjoy the experience and pull ropes or just kick back and watch the excitement build around you! The crew are there to try and win but also make sure that you have the a best time possible- you'll be sure to feel like part of the crew by the end of the race.

Session Length

  • Twilight races are held on Wednesdays and Fridays
  • This experience runs from mid November to early March (except around Christmas and New Year)
  • The experience can be anything from 2-3 hours depending on the wind conditions on the night

Basic level of fitness and mobility is required


Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to their policy.

  • Twilight races go ahead regardless of weather except in very rare occasions due to very strong winds
  • Refunds or reschedules (if possible) will only be available if the official race committee cancels the race (e.g. due to a strong wind warning from the Bureau of Meteorology)

Numbers on the Day

There will be up to six participants on board with approximately eight regular crew members.


This experience will run in all weather, unless the official race committee cancels the race.

Dress Code

Comfortable clothes with flat white soled shoes.
