Sailing is a pastime revered by many as one of the most glorious things you can do. These days you can hire a yacht just about anywhere. Now you'll have the skills and practice to take your yacht wherever you like! This hands-on course is so well-regarded it will count towards the RYA Competent Crew Course. You will learn to steer the yacht and work the sails as you sail the boat around beautiful Moreton Bay. The course teaches ropes, knots, how to work the sails and winches, steering, the use of the compass and the ins and outs of on-board safety. Students also gain some knowledge of charts and what the buoys and beacons mean. This 1-day course teaches you in a very practical manner - this isn't just some guy telling you what he knows, these are qualified trainers. Take this course for a skill that you'll enjoy all your life!

Important information

Session Length

This experience is available most Saturdays and Sundays and goes from 9am-4pm.

Guidelines

If you're under 16 you'll need to bring a paying adult
Please bring own lunch. Water bottles can be refilled onboard

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

There will be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 7 student sailors on board, so you'll get plenty of practice on all the apparatus.

Weather

All sailing trips are weather dependent. Please provide a mobile phone number so that the supplier may contact you on the day of your experience. If cruises are cancelled due to weather, the supplier will contact you ASAP to let you know. Cancelled experiences will be rescheduled for a later date.

Dress Code

Most importantly are the shoes - covered and white-soled so we don't damage the yacht! Wear a shirt with a collar for sun protection, and bring a change of clothes - just in case! A jumper is advised as are a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Other Info

Instructors are all RYA qualified with Australian commercial qualifications. Your course will be held on board a commercially surveyed 40ft yacht! We took a day sailing course with Peter and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to sail! The day was filled with valuable learnings and practical skills to take away, while still having time to enjoy the Moreton bay. It was a calm and fun day and I learned a lot. I am planning to go back to complete another course.

Great day out, Learned a lot but not overwhelmed. Great first taste and possibly first step to learn more. Learning to sail is a great way to experience life on the ocean for the day, while getting some great experience and a fantastic day out. What more could you ask for? The wheather was fantastic which probably put the icing on the cake.

Overall experience was excellent and well organised. As you can imagine weather dictates some what the content however, this did not detract from the overall day and the knowledge, information and hands on experience passed on. Our captain Mark, was first rate with a wealth of knowledge maintaining safety as a key part of the whole day.
