Uncover the sights and delights of Mongolia on a four day fully guided tour. Visit the 40-metre high Genghis Khan Statue, horse ride through breathtaking national park and spend a night with a traditional Nomadic family in their cosy ger, with your guide staying with you to act as a translator.
For those seeking an enriching, real and local Mongolian experience, this is the tour for you. Not only will you encounter untouched land and far flung wonders, you are given access to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live with a traditional Nomadic family in their cosy ger.
Welcome to Mongolia! You will be met by your driver and guide upon your arrival at the airport or train station and begin travelling to the gigantic stainless steel Genghis Khan Statue. Climb to the lookout at the top of the horses head and revel in the amazing views of the surrounding countryside. From here, you'll continue on to the 13th Century complex in Erdene to get an insight into the Mongolian past through visiting farms, staged ger camps and traditional entertainment areas. Here you will visit a herder’s family and spend time riding horses, camels and playing traditional games such as ankle bone shooting with the nomadic families.
After your first sleep in a cosy ger, you will head off to explore the magnificent Terelj National Park. Walk through meadows carpeted with edelweiss and wild flowers, view incredible rock formations juxtaposed against pine covered mountains and strolls along the banks of a mountain stream. Afterwards, you will climb the 108 stairs to the Aryabal Meditation Temple, reading the Buddhist teachings along the way. In the main temple hall you will find intricate carvings on wooden posts and beams, and walls brightly painted with stories depicting the lives of famous Arhats. In the night you will be welcomed into the home of a nomadic family who lives within the national park. With your guide staying with you to act as a translator, you'll learn about their traditional way of life and help prepare food ahead of the evening's dinner.
Rise and shine to live a full day in the life of a nomad as you assist your family with the chores of their day-to-day. You can be as immersed as you like and may find yourself gathering fire wood, collecting water from the river, rounding up cattle, milking their cows and caring for their sheep. You may also have time to go for a hike or horse ride through the national park with members of your host family and guide.
Say your goodbyes to your nomadic family in the morning and begin the journey back to the city. On arrival into Ulaanbaatar, you'll embark on a tour of Gandan Monastery where you will see the huge gold plated Megjid-Janraiseg Buddha. You will also have time to check out Ulaanbaatar city museum, Central Square and National Museum of Mongolia where you will see artefacts dating back to the Stone Age. Afterwards, you'll be transferred to the airport or train station for your onward journey.
