Experience the quiet thrill of the gummy shark chase during this six hour fishing expedition. With premium bait and smooth Shimano rods and reels on hand, all you need to do is lay in wait for that elusive tug. It's your best chance to hook a gummy, school or seven-gill shark!
Add the elusive gummy shark to your repertoire after this half day fishing trip off Geelong. Although gummy sharks are not the largest or most ferocious sharks of the deep, they sure are delicious and can take a whole lot of patience to catch. Phases of the moon, stages of the tide, time of day and the depth of water all play a part in your odds. You will be boarding the 'Corio Princess,' a covered, flat-level purpose-built vessel that accommodates wheelchairs and mobility aids. Your knowledgeable captain will provide you with premium bait and Shimano rods and reels, so you just need to lay in wait for that sneaky tug. There's equal chance to catch school sharks, seven-gill sharks and even flathead too. All legal-sized fish you catch can be filleted and packed on ice for you to take away and enjoy at home.
Participants must be at least 14 years old. Participants under 18 require an adult to accompany them. Participants must be over 18 to purchase alcohol from the on board bar. All participants will have their temperature taken (contactless) upon embarking to ensure they don't show any symptoms of COVID-19. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone showing obvious symptoms of COVID-19.
Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are made at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy:
Maximum of nine participants.
Spectators are welcome but are required to also purchase a ticket for the appropriate age category.
All private and scheduled charters are subject to weather conditions. Should there be a risk of cancellation due to weather conditions, due the infrequency of this trip, the provider endeavour to offer an alternative in place which may be at more unorthodox times such as very early in the morning or late in the evening to accommodate this.
Although the vessel is covered, participants are exposed to the elements, so it's advised to dress very warmly in winter (hat, scarf, gloves, coat, covered shoes) and in summer to bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Hand warmers and sunscreen are also available for purchase on the boat.
Life jackets are provided but not required to be worn for the duration of the charter unless in case of an emergency, due to the size of the boat. As this trip usually runs only once per month (June-Nov) and has only 9 places, charters book up very, very quickly. Please book dates well in advance in order to secure a place. For birthdays or special celebrations, please inform us when booking and we will gladly provide a cake (homemade) free of charge.
