Set in the perpetually sunny north-west coast of Western Australia, Ningaloo is a dream come true for snorkel lovers, eco enthusiasts and adventurists alike. With 260km of fringing coral reef it is one of those idyllic locations where you can walk straight off the white sandy beaches into glistening turquoise waters and find yourself floating above an underwater wonderland. On the morning of your experience, you will be collected from your accommodation and driven to meet the boat and crew. With calm waters on the surface, below is a hive of activity with so much to feast your eyes on. Discover an abundance of coral, tropical fish, turtles, manta rays and dugongs as you cruise along.

When a whale shark has been sighted by plane spotters overhead, it's all systems go! Your skipper will head in the direction of the shark where you will slip back into the waters and swim alongside these enormous, harmless creatures. Their sheer size and gentle nature is mesmerising! A delicious lunch will be served on board as well as a celebratory glass of bubbly. You will have another opportunity to explore the wondrous aquatic playground in the afternoon where we stop for another snorkel site.

This experience is a full day in duration
Commences at 7:30am and returns at 4:30pm
Available daily during March- July, excluding school holidays
Subject to availability - book early to avoid disappointment

Restrictions

This experience is not available during school holidays.

Guidelines

Participants must be over 18 years to be served alcohol; photo ID may be required
Please advise of any dietary requirements at the time of booking
Any existing medical conditions must be advised prior to your trip
Anyone entering the water must have basic swimming ability
Children must be accompanied by a swimming adult

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience may be cancelled. You will be contacted by the experience provider and rescheduled.

Dress Code

Please bring bathers, a towel, suncream, sunglasses and a hat.

Other Info

A professional photographer will be in the water at each point capturing your every moment. You will be given a link to download the photos from your tour enabling you to relive your experience over and over again.

Incredible experience with four whale shark dives

Great crew that led us, with the help of a spotter plane, to a small whale shark and kept us in range for four separate dives alongside it. We also snorkeled with a manta ray, saw a tiger snorkel and dugong with calf, and had two other dives at shallow reef sites. It pays to be fit as some on our boat struggled to get back in at short notice each time we found the whale shark again. Wetsuit also recommended if the cool breeze picks up

We had the BEST day swimming with the whale sharks. The ladies running the tour were so lovely and explained everything really well. Lunch was delicious and the glass of bubbly at the end of the day was devine. We did a really relaxing drift snorkel at the end of the day where we saw a lot of other marine life and coral. Don’t miss this opportunity.

Bloody great day snorkled the ningaloo reef both sides then swam with a whale shark on and off for an hour. Boat and crew where the best made us feel relaxed and comfortable and very professional in every way. Recomend this company to any one

We did the whale shark tour with Ningaloo discovery it was amazing! We swam with 3 sharks and one was 10 meters long!!! Once in a life time!! The boat crew and whole tour from start to finish was exceptional!!!!

Had the most amazing day. The crew were amazing and super knowledgeable, we were in and out of the water all day and saw four whale sharks. The swims with them were decent every time and they made sure we got the best possible experience we could. The snorkel was incredible, much better than the Great Barrier Reef and so abundant with sea life. If you are thinking about doing this tour I highly recommend you book! A percentage of the ticket price goes to conservation of the reef and whale sharks and worth every cent

Great day out but disappointed by the company

My husband and I were gifted this experience for our wedding and waited 2yrs to go. We were extremely excited and had high expectations. Overall the day was great, we had good weather conditions and saw 2 whale sharks. The disappointing part was that multiple tour operators use the same whale spotting plane so when you turn up to swim you are surrounded by other boats and each company takes turns putting their people in the water. You get about 3mins in the water and then you’re scooped up for the next group to go. If you have people in your group who can’t swim (like we did, they used pool noodles to stay afloat) the guides assume everyone can’t swim and treat you like a novice. My husband and I are very experienced snorkelers and scuba divers so it was quite frustrating. We didn’t warm to the crew either, it felt like they were running a business and didn’t have the passion and enthusiasm we have experienced on other trips. Also the free photos weren’t the best quality, there was no effort on the part of the photographer to ensure everyone got a photo whilst in the water. I’m glad we didn’t pay extra for the photos. The whale sharks are phenomenal animals and are the reason we did the trip so we are happy we saw them, we just wished it was a less commercial experience and that maybe the number of operators was more limited. We would have paid more to have a more exclusive experience.

Such an awesome day! There was just over 20 of us spending the day out at sea on the powerboat with Ningaloo Discovery. We got to experience snorkelling on the reef and swam with two different whale sharks spotted on the day. The experience was incredible, I’m so so glad we did it. It is a bit hectic, jumping in the water, 5minute swim with the shark and then jump out the water. Let the other teams and tours swim and then go again. The food provided was tasty and good. The crew was really great too. Good chat, friendly and fun.
