This course focuses on advanced driving and car control techniques to help make you a more competent and aware driver on the road. Specially tailored for people who have been driving for a while and want to improve their overall safety through better car control skills and driving techniques.

The Advanced Driving Stage 2 course is designed to improve your driving skill set in a safe and controlled environment. The course covers advanced car control in unexpected and emergency situations and updates your knowledge of modern vehicle safety systems and how they work to improve your active and passive safety. It also covers 'mind driving' techniques that help develop the right attitude and decision making processes to make you a more aware and safe driver.

Advanced Driving Stage 2 is a full day program conducted on the wet and dry handling arena. If you do not have a car or would prefer to use one provided, you are welcome to hire a Volvo from the fleet for your course. Participants will receive a certificate of completion when they successfully complete this course. Lunch and refreshments are provided.

Course content includes:

  • Personalised technique assessment and coaching
  • ABS and Non-ABS braking experience
  • Understeer and oversteer exercises
  • Vision and scanning exercises
  • Safety System experience
  • Emergency hazard identification and response
  • Cornering techniques
  • Following distance exercises
On the Day

Session Length

  • This course takes place on varying days once a month
  • The session begins at 8:30am and concludes at 4pm

Only available until 1 July 2017.

Numbers on the Day

There will be a maximum of 12 students per course. 


The event will go ahead rain or shine.

Dress Code

  • Dress casually according to the weather
  • Wear flat-soled closed shoes
  • No thongs, sandals or high heels

The Drive Aware Stage 1 course or similar must be completed first


  • You are required to sign an indemnity on the day
  • You must have a 0% blood alcohol
  • The experience provider reserves the right to stop the car or refuse anyone found to be driving or acting in an unsafe manner
  • Vehicle: Check oil, water to ensure they are at the correct levels, ensure you fill your car up with fuel and remove any loose articles from your car
  • Tyre Pressure: Ensure that your vehicle tyre pressures are set to manufacturer standards e.g. Passenger Vehicles – minimum 32 PSI (220kpa), 4WD and light commercial – require higher pressure, please consult your vehicle handbook for optimum pressures
  • If you do not have a car or would prefer to use one of the providers cars you can hire Volvo from the fleet at extra cost
  • PLEASE NOTE: Participants must first complete the Drive Aware Stage 1 before progressing to the Advanced Driver Stage 2


Once this experience has been confirmed changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy:


  • Greater than 31 days prior to the experience date: 15% per participant fee to change the experience date and time
  • Within 11 and 31 days of the experience date: 50% per participant fee to change the experience date and time
  • Between 0-10 days of the experience date, No Shows and Late Arrivals: Participants forfeit their experience and therefore are not entitled to a refund or to re-book
