Take an incredible journey through Australia's final frontier. Walk, hike, swim and experience nature at its very best. You'll see native wildlife, swim in spectacular waterfalls and observe Aboriginal rock paintings that are thousands of years old. This is a real Aussie outback adventure.
This incredible tour aims to get you off the beaten track and into the remote gorges, waterholes and rock art sites. You will embark on an incredible journey through the Kimberley outback allowing you to experience nature, wildlife and endless adventure as you make your way along the Gibb River Road.
The adventure starts in Darwin where you set off for Edith Falls and Lake Argyle for hiking and swimming, before venturing on to the Bungle Bungle Range. After exploring the Bungles you will begin the Gibb River Road and arrive at the famous El Questro station.
This region lends itself to trekking and cooling-off in the most picturesque swimming holes. After El Questro you’ll continue the journey venturing into Manning Gorge, Galvans Gorge, Bell Gorge, Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek; before arriving at our final destination, the pearling capital of Broome.
You will bush camp throughout the tour, eat freshly prepared meals and sleep under the stars in a swag. The vibe is relaxed and friendly, as if you are simply traveling with mates and having the time of your life.
Our tours are not suitable for children, although teenagers travelling with parents are welcome. It is not recommended for pregnant women to travel on this tour due to the risks involved with hiking on uneven ground, and roads are corrugated and bumpy.
Minimum of 8 passengers and maximum of 16 passengers on this tour.
If you chose to travel during September, October or November these are the hottest months when humidity is high and temperatures can reach 40 degrees. During April and May there is some humidity and June, July and August are the coolest months, where you will experience cool nights and warm daytime temperatures. During the hotter months our guides will alter the itinerates to suit the weather conditions, for example long walks will be done early in the morning to beat the heat. We will also aim to camp near watering holes so you have the opportunity to cool off in the afternoon. Due to the fact that we travel in remote areas in tropical conditions and on rough terrain, our tours can be affected by poor road conditions and/or extreme weather, which might result in a change of itinerary, or in extreme cases cause the tour to be cancelled. If your tour is cancelled before departure we will provide you with a refund or transfer your trip to another date.
Please bring thongs / your comfy breathable shoes for on the truck and around the campsites, swimming gear, hat, sunglasses, suitable clothing to keep you cool and protect you from the sun, jumper / something to keep you cool in the evening, rain jacket (from tours running in May, September, October & November).
Other items to consider packing: Sleeping bag suitable for the conditions (-5 degree Celsius sleeping bag if travelling between May – September), comfortable, appropriate hiking shoes or boots / strapped sandals with ankle support (whichever you feel most confident hiking in), small or inflatable pillow, cash for souvenirs, sun screen, insect repellent, toiletries, iPod / MP3 (we can play your music on the truck), camera, towel, torch, large water bottle.
This experience begins in Darwin, takes you south to Katherine and on to Kununurra. You'll visit the Bungle Bungles and join the Gibb River Road which will take you through the Kimberley region and you will finish up in Broome.
