Join us in a kayak adventure amongst the gum trees that line the quiet waters of the Yarra River near Melbourne. Twilight is a great time to spot birds, fruit bats and other sorts of wildlife or to simply wind down after a busy day at work!
We will meet you near the river and then its a short car shuttle to the start point. After taking our kayaks a few metres to the river, a safety briefing and introduction to the kayak, we will set off for a leisurely paddle on the mighty Yarra River. We will spend approximately 1.5 hours in the kayak until dusk. Its a magical time of day where we might see the Grey Headed flying foxes heading off to find fruit, water birds stalking on the river banks or feeding their young. We pass under Kane's Bridge and past the Studley Park Boathouse to our exit point on the right bank. We take our craft the short distance to the trailer and then share a light supper until it's time to go home! We feel so priveleged to guide you through this lovely stretch of the river and will enjoy it as much as you do!
This experience is approximately 3 hours in duration. This time may vary due to the season. The tour operator will confirm the start time (which is usually 3 hours before sunset) prior to the tour.
The price quoted is per person. All tours require minimum numbers and suitable environmental conditions.
Spectators are most welcome and may join us for the light snacks/supper at the end of the tour for an extra fee. Often they take photos at the start of the tour and from the Kane's bridge as we near the finish.
In the event of inclement weather this activity will be postponed to a later date.
Please dress suitably for the outdoors and kayaking. We expect that you should only get a little wet from splashes from your paddle. We suggest you wear gym wear, leggings and a fleecy top on cooler days. In summer, shorts, long sleeve top for sun protection, with a spray jacket nearby will be perfect for the river. A pair of runners or river sandals (you must wear footwear on the river) must be worn and may get a little wet. Please bring a small towel and a change of dry clothes for afterwards. Some dry bags are available for personal gear but we can't guarantee phones and valuables won't get wet if you take them in the kayak.
