This short and relaxed 3.5 hour tour gives you a taste of Tasmania's internationally acclaimed cool climate wines. You will be picked up from your Hobart accomodation and meander through the beautiful Coal River Valley wine region. The first stop of the day is Pooley Wines at Belmont House. This third generation family-owned winery creates some of the country's finest pinot noir, riesling and chardonnay, and don't worry, you'll get a taste of some of their best drops! Next up is Frogmore Creek, where you'll be treated to a tasting in the cellar door and discover their art collection depicting the history of winemaking in Tasmania. Afterwards, you'll jump back in the van and head to Richmond Bridge for postcard-worthy views. Take a snap or two of this historic sandstone structure with the Coal River running slowly underneath it and uncover its dark secrets.

The final stop of the journey, Coal River Farm, is sure to get your taste buds salivating. Sample artisanal cheese and chocolate, and perhaps take a stroll through the orchard and pick sweet seasonal fruits (additional cost).

Session Length

  • This experience operates Friday Morning only
  • The tour departs at 9am and returns at 12:30pm, which is a duration of 3.5 hours
  • Guests must be at Brooke Street Pier 10 minutes before departure time unless hotel pick up has been arranged

Restrictions

This tour is not accessible to children under the age of 15yrs, heavily pregnant women or individuals that have special needs.

  • You must be 18 years and older to consume alcohol; ID may be required
  • The provider is dedicated to providing responsible service of alcohol to our guests. They do not condone excessive or binge drinking in any way
  • Any guest that is deemed to be intoxicated before the start of the tour will not be allowed entry to the tour vehicle and will forfeit the tour
  • While on the tour, the authority of the tour guide / bus driver will be adhered to, and should the guide / bus driver feel in any way that you are acting inappropriately or acting in a manner which will impact the enjoyment of the other guests while on the tour, that said person will be ejected from the tour, and will forfeit the tour fee
  • This tour has a low level of physical difficulty and is offered in English only

Cancellation

Once this tour has been confirmed, then changes are at the discretion of the experience provider & must be arranged directly with them according to this policy:

  • If any guest/s needs to cancel a tour, then they must do so before 24 hours from the start of the tour
  • Any cancellation within 24 hours of the tour start time will forfeit 100% of the value of the said tour
  • There are no extra fees to reschedule a tour or to be able to move to another experience before 24 hours of the start time of the tour or event. Inside 24 hours of the tour guests will be waitlisted for their nominated day or tour that they wish to change to if that tour is already full or nearing capacity and guests accept that they may not be able to participate in another tour if it is not within their timeframe

Weather

This tour spends time outdoors. If there is inclement weather, then the same tour format will be adhered to, however the provider will change the style of the experience. All experience guests are advised to bring a warm jacket/coat/blazer of some kind as a precaution, even if it looks sunny at the time of departure.

Dress Code

All tour guests are advised that the tours go inside working wineries and distilleries and as such are subject to stringent health and safety regulations. Please have closed toe footwear or the closest thing, or you may not be able to participate in some aspects of the tour due to safety hazards.
