No trip to Tassie is complete without a visit to their southern wine country. Taste outstanding cool climate wines, devour handcrafted chocolate and cheese, and soak in the tranquil ambience of the Coal River Valley countryside.
This short and relaxed 3.5 hour tour gives you a taste of Tasmania's internationally acclaimed cool climate wines. You will be picked up from your Hobart accomodation and meander through the beautiful Coal River Valley wine region. The first stop of the day is Pooley Wines at Belmont House. This third generation family-owned winery creates some of the country's finest pinot noir, riesling and chardonnay, and don't worry, you'll get a taste of some of their best drops! Next up is Frogmore Creek, where you'll be treated to a tasting in the cellar door and discover their art collection depicting the history of winemaking in Tasmania. Afterwards, you'll jump back in the van and head to Richmond Bridge for postcard-worthy views. Take a snap or two of this historic sandstone structure with the Coal River running slowly underneath it and uncover its dark secrets.
The final stop of the journey, Coal River Farm, is sure to get your taste buds salivating. Sample artisanal cheese and chocolate, and perhaps take a stroll through the orchard and pick sweet seasonal fruits (additional cost).
