Learn from professional beekeepers all you need to know to keep a hive and start harvesting fresh, local honey. Whether you are a backyard beekeeper, an urban beehive enthusiast, or an amateur who wants to learn more about our precious pollinators this workshop will cover everything from the history of honey to beehive management and honey harvesting.
Play a part in keeping local ecosystems healthy by contributing to biodiversity with a healthy beehive. This unique learning experience offers an in depth understanding of the care needs of Australian native bees as well as European honeybees. You will learn the art of responsible backyard and urban beekeeping, including how to make sure your bees are happy and healthy. This workshop experience includes an opportunity to don protective gear and see inside the working hives. Most importantly, you will learn how rewarding it can be to keep bees in your own backyard.
In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience may be rescheduled to a later date.
Please ensure you wear long trousers, socks, and fully enclosed shoes. Please refrain from wearing strong scents, such as perfume or heavily fragranced deodorant.
