Guilt Free Indulgences

by Claire Young

In the famous words of Parks and Rec superstar, Donna Meagle, “Treat yo’self.” We all deserve a little “me” time, or a lot. So here are four guilt-free indulgences you’ll have a hard time saying no to.

BYO massuese

I’m sure I’m not the only person that’s been misunderstood when answering the age-old question, “What are you up to this weekend?” with “nothing”. That’s not a plea for an invitation ladies, I wholeheartedly plan to do nothing. Chuck your Sunday best (typically pyjamas) and a glass of Moscato in the mix and you’re speaking the language of couch potatoes worldwide. The only thing that could make this better is an hour-long, relaxing massage. And the only thing that could make that better were if the masseuse came to you. Well ladies and gentlemen, our prayers have been answered. The only finger you’re required to lift is your pointer and shout, “Pick me!” while allowing a qualified masseuse to work their magic. Doing nothing just got a whole lot better.

Brush up on your skills

Sometimes looking fabulous is half the battle when it comes to feeling fabulous. So why not book yourself in with qualified Napoleon Perdis makeup artists and learn the tricks of the trade? If you’re looking to freshen up your face, the team will set you up with all the right equipment and know-how so you can nail that professional look at home. Sit back and pop open the champagne while learning about the best techniques and products for your face. In the true spirit of treating one’s self, you’ll walk away with $150 worth of product and priceless know-how.

Go above, and beyond

We all need a little guidance sometimes, and where better to get it than from higher perspectives? Treat yo’self to an eye-opening 45 minute session with an experienced clairvoyant and shed some light on the struggles of the daily grind. Sometimes (rarely) Google doesn’t have the answers, so don’t be afraid to bring along a list of the questions you’re dying to have answers to. It might just be something a spiritual reading can clear up.

Float away

For those of us that tend to feel overwhelmed by the end of the working week, there’s nothing quite like a float in a sensory deprivation tank. If you finished watching Interstellar and wondered what it might be like to float through outer-space, this is probably the closest you can get while still remaining in the stratosphere. The capsule is filled with high density salt water, so all you have to do is lie back and let your mind wander. In the tank, light, noise, and gravity melt away. The deep sense of relaxation allows the body to recover from stress, pain, increase blood flow and release natural endorphins. In fact, just one session in a flotation tank is equal to hours of deep sleep. Where do I sign up?
