Music has the power to transcend the mundane moments in our lives and unlock potential for discovery and inspiration. The Australian String Quartet are committed to this journey and invite you on a journey that is diverse, expansive and compelling.
For over 30 years, the Australian String Quartet has created unforgettable string quartet performances for national and international audiences. Dedicated to musical excellence with a distinctly Australian character, their purpose is to create chemistry and amplify intimacy through experiences that connect people with string Quartet music. The Australian String Quartet’s National Season 2017 consists of three compelling concerts. You will be able to choose one of the following performances.
Haydn Winkelman Sibelius - Wed 27 February 7-9pm, Melbourne Recital Centre
Haydn's admiration for the musicality of birds creates curious charm, contrasting the soulful grandeur of Finland's great Romantic artist, Jean Sibelius.
Moore Beethoven Brahms - Mon 27 May, 7-9pm, Melbourne Recital Centre
Two great masters of the string quartet are shown in the youthful bloom of their artistry in this concert, which brings together their early masterworks.
Ives Westlake Debussy - Fri 20 September, 7-9pm, Melbourne Recital Centre
A combination of works from three composers united, across time, in the musical quest for vivid colours and sensual beauty.
The concert is two hours long including a 20 minute interval.
