There is a version of your city that most people never see. A bridge climb takes you to it, above the traffic, above the rooftops, up to the highest accessible point of an iconic structure with a guide and 360-degree views that genuinely stop you in your tracks. RedBalloon has bridge and structure climbs across Australia, including Brisbane's Story Bridge, the Adelaide Oval roof, and more. These are the kind of experiences people save for special occasions or give as gifts that actually mean something.
What is a bridge climb experience?
A guided bridge climb takes a small group up the arch or structure of an iconic bridge or building, led by a qualified guide. You are harnessed throughout and the routes are well-established. The climb is active but not technically demanding, it is more about the experience than the athletics.
Climbs are available at different times of day. Daytime climbs offer the clearest views. Twilight climbs catch the city transitioning into its evening lights. Night climbs give you the city fully lit up below you.
Where can you climb in Australia?
Brisbane's Story Bridge is the flagship experience. You can climb to the top of either the north or south tower, with daytime, twilight, and night options. The Adelaide Oval roof climb is a different kind of structure but just as spectacular, with views over the oval and the Adelaide skyline. Both are considered bucket list experiences and are popular choices for significant birthdays and milestone gifts.
For other ways to see a city from above, helicopter flights offer aerial views without the climbing. Hot air ballooning gives a slower, wider perspective over the surrounding landscape.
Bridge climbing as a gift
A bridge climb is one of the most memorable experiences you can give. It is active, social, and produces views, and stories, that last. Gift vouchers are available with flexible redemption. Popular for birthdays, anniversaries, Father's Day, and Christmas.
Is a bridge climb safe?
Yes. All climbers are fitted with a harness and clipped to a safety wire throughout the climb. Guides are fully trained. The experiences have been operating for years with strong safety records.
What fitness level do I need?
A reasonable level of fitness helps, but you do not need to be particularly athletic. The climbs involve stairs and some inclines but nothing that would challenge a reasonably active person. Check individual experiences for any specific fitness requirements.
Can children do bridge climbs?
Most bridge climbs have a minimum age of around 8–10 years. Children must meet height and weight requirements and be accompanied by an adult. Check individual experience details before booking.
How long does a bridge climb take?
Most experiences run 1.5–2.5 hours including briefing, suiting up, and the climb itself. Check your specific experience for exact timing, it varies by location and climb type.
