Our unique red boats are custom-built and can carry two people in each. Their very special design means you see Sydney Harbour from a completely different perspective compared to larger sightseeing vessels. And because we head out in groups of only six people, you have a very personal trip. Kayaking can be fun, but it’s not a patch on the fun of our speedboats, and nowhere near as fast! And while jetboats can have you round the harbour in a jiffy, even they don’t come close to our Sydney tours where YOU take the helm. Feel the wind in your hair. Feel the spray on your face. Breathe the salt-tang air. Experience the difference!

Guidelines

Minimum age to rent the boat is 18 years
Minimum age to drive the boat is 16 years
Minimum participant age is 10 years
Maximum combined weight is 220kg

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

There is a maximum number of 6 people in a tour is 6; 3 boats with 2 people each.

Weather

In case of adverse weather (wind over 16 knots, more than 0.5 meter waves, sustained rain) the tour will be rescheduled/cancelled. If a tour needs to be cancelled due to weather conditions the experience provider will inform customers until 6pm on the previous day for the 10am tour and until 9 am on the same day for the 2pm tour.

Dress Code

Please wear casual clothes and shoes. Due to the size of the boats you will get wet with some spray. Ponchos are provided but most guests enjoy the occasional refreshment. Each boat also has a watertight bag for all your valuables. Sunscreen and a hat is also recommended.

Our guide was patient and professional, he had a lot to deal with as we had others in the group who had very limited understanding of English so you can imagine the stress our guide went through with them and he still was very attentive and good with us… boats were very nippy and easy to control, got to see some awesome stuff and amazing homes on the harbour and felt like tourists in our own country!

The self-driven boat tour was the best experience!

This was a fantastic experience with so many memorable sites to see, including the small suburban coves that Sydney ferries can't get to, getting up close and personal with the largest navy ships at Garden Island and a selection of private beaches visited by Sydneys social elite. The boat itself was super easy to drive and control, which allows you to really take in the views. We particularly liked the fact that the boat was low in the water, which on a brilliant summers day meant getting splashed by other boats wash was so much fun. You really feel like a small fish in a large harbour - brilliant. Can't recommend this highly enough.

Awesome way to see the Harbour

So much fun seeing the Harbour from these small 2 person self drive boats. We received our safety advice & personal floatation device from our guide who we met at Rose Bay boat ramp very close to the ferry pier. Next we were in the boat given instruction how to drive then we & 1 other boat were away for our Grand Tour. Simple to follow our guide who stopped us at various points to provide information & take photos of us with the glorious backdrop of the Bridge Opera House & the Harbour. We’ve walked the Harbour Circle but the perspective from these small craft is totally different from being on a ferry or usual harbour cruise. And with only a max of 3 boats!

A fun and unique way to experience Sydney Harbour

This tour was the most fun I've had in a while! We covered so much ground in 3 hours, starting at Rose Bay, heading across to Taronga Zoo, following the coastline around and under the Harbour Bridge until Ball's Head, before crossing back to Darling Harbour and following the coast again until we were back in Rose Bay. It was a different perspective; we were able to get much closer to the shore than you could from a ferry, and it was great fun to be able to drive yourself! Thanks Dirk for a fantastic tour :)
