Uncover the hidden gems of Launceston's impressive Cataract Gorge during a guided walk. Meander through pathways brimmed with lush bushland and cliff faces and across the Kings Bridge whilst learning about its rich history. Round out the tour with a two course lunch at Stillwater Restaurant.
Take a walk through Launceston's prized jewel, the Cataract Gorge, situated only minutes away from the city and discover its rich history and natural beauty. Standing as a magnificent natural wonder, the Gorge is brimmed by lush bushland and sheer cliff faces, making you feel miles away from civilisation. Over the course of the 2.5 hours, you will delve into the past and discover the river's significant importance over generations and its ever-changing landscape as you walk the famous Zig Zag track. As your guide leads you across the Kings Bridge, learn how it was manufactured on the other side of the world in 1862 and how it was meticulously moved into its place. After a breathtaking walk, wander back to the award-winning Stillwater Restaurant and savour a delicious two course lunch with your group.
The tour is almost 3.5km in length. The first half is on sealed paths with the final section following man made trails over the Zig Zag Track. This section of the walk requires a reasonable level of fitness and has an ascent and descent in the second half of the tour.
