Whilst the staff were really good, there were too many negatives. Repairs needed many areas. Particularly our verandah. Grass overgrown and weeds everywhere. Broken tiling. And the room had lots of makeshift cables exposed and hanging. Cobwebs on windows. It felt like the place was cost cutting or struggling financially. Enjoyed the ambience of the titled rooms, e.g. drawing room, library etc. Our suite was large with a balcony and large windows to take in country side views. Bathroom was old worldly, quite large and very clean. Beautiful facilities. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Recommended weekend away Mary 11 May 2024 Weekend was amazing, dinner excellent. After dinner we went to our room, there was a live mouse in the small waste bin, it was very disturbing. We called reception, they came and disposed of it. I couldn't sleep as I am very frightened of mice. It spoiled the weekend. the next morning after breakfast, we checked out early and reported the incident to the front desk. The receptionist was very understanding and passed on our concerns to management. We received a call when we got home and as a good will gesture they didn't charge for the dinner. Although it happened to be unfortunate timing when the hot water had not been serviced in time, so we couldn't enjoy a hot shower or spa in the evening. It was great to finally enjoy a long awaited bath before check-out, however the jets in the spa were out of control, so I couldn't use them. Felt very relaxed overall upon departing.
