Dive into the heart of SEA LIFE Melbournes 2.2 million litre Oceanarium for an unforgettable underwater adventure. After a comprehensive safety briefing and training session, you will plunge into an underwater marine life world, coming face to face with majestic sharks, graceful rays, and colourful tropical fish. No previous scuba experience is needed, just a sense of adventure and a reasonable level of swimming ability.

Led by expert instructors, this experience runs for approximately two and a half to three hours and includes a 30 minute dive alongside grey speartooth sharks, leopard sharks, green sea turtles, and more, all without a cage. With small group sizes limited to four participants per session, you will enjoy a personal and safe encounter. This exciting animal experience is sure to leave you with memories that last a lifetime.

Important information

Session Length

Please allow approximately three hours for this experience, including a 30 minute dive
Available Friday and Saturday
Please arrive by 8.45am for a 10am or 11am session
Please arrive by 1pm for a 2.30pm or 3.30pm session

Restrictions

Before booking your Shark Dive, please note that you cannot drink alcohol the night before the dive and cannot fly in an aircraft within 12 hours of your dive.

Guidelines

Minimum age is 14 years old
Those between 14 and 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult at the pre dive briefing
Participants must have moderate fitness and be able to swim 25 metres unaided
If you have a pre existing condition but still want to dive, you must get medical clearance before your experience
All non certified divers are required to complete medical declaration on the day
Scuba Diving is physically demanding and can be dangerous if participants suffer from certain medical conditions
It is very important that any divers do not suffer from any contraindications to diving
If you are booking a dive or purchasing a gift voucher for another person, please ensure the recipient is aware of the medical requirements
A dive doctors clearance is required if you have had COVID 19 in the last six months
There is currently a six week wait to see the dive doctor
Same day bookings are not permitted
Divers must be able to speak English

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Maximum of four participants per session.

Dress Code

Please bring your swimwear and a towel. If you have your own mask and full length wetsuit please feel free to bring them along.

The shark dive at Sea Life Melbourne was just fantastic. The meet and greet, briefing was friendly and helpful, especially to partners and children that were not part of the dive. The briefing pre dive was very informative and eased any tension. The dive, well, was just epic and I will take my partner to Sea Life to experience a great adventure.

I loved this experience! I was nervous about the scuba diving, but the staff were amazing. I felt safe and in controls at all times. I loved the dive! It was brilliant to see their sea life up close and personal. Would recommend this for sure!

Wow what an experience, the staff were absolutely fantastic through the whole process. Great facilities and equipment. The staff were very knowledgeable. The dive itself was amazing, i loved being surrounded by all of the animals. To be able to see my family on the other side of the glass was a great experience. I would highly recommend doing this.

Really good staff and basic training good equipment and instruction a really interesting experience. As a certified PADI diver I enjoyed this reintroduction to a shallow dive after an absence of some years. A really good experience and congratulations to the staff.

From beginning to end with both red balloon and sea life Melbourne you have both been very kind and extremely helpful with my request to experience the shark dive at Sealife Melbourne. I originally planned to do this with my terminally I’ll daughter, as that was her wish. I live in NSW and she in Victoria. This weekend my husband and I went to say our last goodbyes and I did this for her. We had both always wished to experience this. From the late phone call to the wonderful team at red balloon to organise this two days before I arrived in Melbourne, to the beautiful compassionate people at Sealife Melbourne, I can’t express my sincere Thankyou in words for what you all did last minute. This was a very emotional day for me and the understanding, professional and human touch that was shown to me was beyond words. I can’t explain how grateful I am for what you all did for me on the day of my dive. For a grandmother of 10, mum to six and large extended family I can assure anybody you can do this, even when you are not at your best. The memories I have and will share with my friends and family are priceless. Can’t give you a rating out of ten because you exceed over one thousand. Anybody that wishes to do this, or buy something through red balloon, you will find extremely caring, compassionate people. Very hard to find is such difficult times. You all really don’t know what this has meant to me, but Thankyou for all being you xxxxx
