Discover a one-of-a-kind experience at l’Air Du Wombat Truffles in Oallen, NSW. Go truffle hunting with the trained dogs and learn all bout the grading process before indulging in a tasty homemade pizza with wine.
Your truffle hunt begins in the purpose-built pavilion, which is kept cosy and warm with a roaring fire along the seating area where you can enjoy a coffee or tea before making your way out into the field. This hunting experience is different to most as the team has very few rules, allowing people to participate in digging up the truffles (limited numbers per session), interacting with the truffle dogs, Barry, Roxy & JJ, while they work and getting a personal photo with them at the end.
After approximately one hour out in the field, you’ll return back to the cosy pavilion for a homemade pizza paired with a glass of wine. As you enjoy your meal, the team will weigh the harvest and demonstrate how truffles are washed and graded. You’ll also learn some handy tips and tricks for getting the most use out of your truffle, as well as how to pair truffle with food to create simple and delicious meals.
The whole experience will take approximately 2-3 hours including dinner.
The hunts continue in all weather conditions, so be prepared if the forecast isn't so good and bring and umbrella and some warm clothes.
Closed in shoes as well as warm clothing to accommodate the cold winter weather conditions that are ideal for truffles to grow in.
This experience takes place in Oallen, NSW. It is approximately a 3-hour drive south of Sydney CBD or a 1.5-hour drive east of Canberra.
