High tea for 2 adults and 2 children

Originally opened in 1936 this establishment is well known for its superior quality cakes, unique environment and outstanding service. Now within one of Brisbane’s most recognised buildings, City Hall, it continues its tradition as a location that can reach across the generational divide, making it the ideal location for special occasions and memorable outings. Freshly baked traditional plain scones with clotted cream and preserve

Session Length

This experience is available daily with the last high tea booking at 1pm
Please allow at least 1.5 hours for your high tea experience
Store open 9am-2pm and closed on public holidays
This experience is not available on Public Holidays or special event days

Guidelines

This experience is for two adults and two children
Children are considered to be aged 12 or under
Dietary requirements such as vegetarian and gluten free are able to be accomodated, but please advise of these requirements when booking

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Dress Code

This is a premium cafe, hence a minimum dress requirement of smart casual is required (for example, thongs would be inappropriate).

Most of the food listed was missing

A lot of the food listed on the advertisement was either missing or substituted for something of a lesser standard. Our service people didn’t really speak to us. Understandably it was busy, but the experience was definitely impacted by this as we have two young daughters who love to chat away.

Disappointing High Tea

It is not an experience i will recommend. The food was awful. The place was dirty, crumbs everywhere. The servers can't even wipe the tables and seats after customers leave. The service was appalling. Long wait. Not worth the money. I do not recommend this place at all

The family High Tea was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive (without being overbearing) and helpful. The food was good, the tea was plentiful and we were able to tailor the ribbon sandwiches to suit (skipping one type and having more of the others). The kids really enjoyed their servings and there was more food than we could finish. Together with the vintage atmosphere, this was a very enjoyable experience.

High tea was all class.

Great venue for adults and children to enjoy a high tea. Did have high expectations of the quality of food but were disappointed as the sandwiches weren't freshly made and there wasn't a good mix of savoury and sweet for adults and children. Too many sweet treats for our liking.

I took my niece and nephew along for their first High Tea experience, and while the food was good, the service was a bit sub-par. We arrived on time, and were advised that they couldn't find our booking (unsure if this was on the fault of RedBalloon, or the Shingle Inn), but that they could fit us in as they weren't busy (their words, not mine.) I had to pull up the email to show our waiter what exactly we had purchased/booked. Since they didn't have our booking in their system, we had to wait longer than expected for the high tea platters to come out. We also didn't receive the 2 glasses of wine advertised for the Adults, but by this stage, I didn't say anything as I didn't want to cause any more issues. That being said, the high tea itself was enjoyable and my niece & nephew enjoyed themselves very much, but for myself and my Mum it was a disappointing start to the afternoon.

Wonderful day and such a big variety of food! We actually had to take some of our cakes home we couldn't eat them all. The staff were amazing and very attentive to us. Highly recommend for a different experience. City Hall was a beautiful venue
