Given this is an Italian restaurant; you would expect the menu to be quite extensive as far as pasta dishes are concerned. The "Red Balloon Set Menu" however, gives you a choice of TWO - both penne and both of which you can make at home. You then have two chicken dishes or pizza. That's it. Opting for the chicken Pollo Ai Peperoni Con Verdurine instead of penne, this dish was dry and overcooked. My guest (who's birthday it was) went for a pizza which was fine. A glass of wine each was included - both were small. The white was passable, but the red was a cheap, rough offering and could have passed for a 2027 vintage it was that young ! We picked decent wine for our second glass from the wine list and at least this was much better that the earlier rough offerings. Desert was tiramisu which was good. Asking for the bill (for the 2 glasses of wine) we were staggered to see a bill for $53 ! Yes, that was for TWO glasses of wine. The package mentioned "a view" - but we were seated near the bar area and really had no view, even though there are tables along the boundary of the property which offer one. The restaurant is at King Street Wharf, so a tourist area and expensive. The service was fine." I managed to have a look at their normal menu and there were far more choices to chose from. The view from the table was lovely, sitting by the water, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The menu offerings were varied and generous - there was so much food! - the pesto gnocchi was a particular standout! ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth! Bec 9 August 2023 We were attending the Elvis show at the state theatre and purchased this 3 course set menu it was a gift to my mother.. We arrived at 4pm and it wasn’t that busy we had to call them over to order drinks and start to actually get them started on our set menu. 5:30 I had to ask for our mains we received at 5:45 so I called for deserts when we received our mains 6:05 deserts came and at that point we had to leave the deserts on the table as we were now late for the show.. I will never go back and advise others that you will receive better service elsewhere , nobody had any idea what they were doing so don’t waste your money!
