The staff were very attentive on what was a surprisingly full restaurant for a Wednesday evening. The food was all fantastic - steak cooked exactly how we asked. The cheesecake was the overall winner for me! Didn’t rate either of the wines I tried, but that’s just me. To clarify for others (as I called ahead to confirm before booking), you get BOTH of the starters, mains and deserts - not one of each. ★★★★★ ★★★★★ A bit of a choice would be good Sharyn 5 October 2024 We went to Hunter & Barrell using a Red Balloon Voucher so I cannot give a true review of this restaurant. In saying that the service and atmosphere was really good. The food overall was good, but there is no choice at all using the Red Balloon voucher. I get that it is meant to be an introduction to their food but at least one choice would allow for a little bit more variety (eg for entree you get the cheese brioche and the wagyu roast beef to share, but perhaps one additional item would at least give you a choice). This is in comparison to the 'Meat and Wine Co' which give you three choices using a Red Balloon Voucher which makes you feel like you are getting a better experience of the restaurant. The Humpty Doo Barramundi was great but the lamb fillet was chewy and lukewarm. Finally, the dark chocolate tart was nice (one to share), but again another choice would be nice. We will be back to try some other selections and if it was a lovely warm evening, like it was on the night we went, I would definitely be wanting to sit outside.
