Sydney is a vibrant city known for its iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House. But beyond the icons there is a diversity of people and a cool street and street art culture. A thriving metropolis, Downtown Sydney is a hub of activity and has many characteristics and characters perfect for street photography - people, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, pets, historical buildings, art installations and so much more.

In this 4-hour workshop, you will learn the following:

Street strategies for taking shots from a known and unknown position
How to approach your subject
What equipment is best
Developing technique
The correct lens
What camera to use
How to recognise keys points of interest
Is the subject dynamic enough
Composition and use of light

The minimum age for this experience is 16 years old.

Guidelines

This experience is suitable for beginners, amateurs and intermediate photographers who have a basic knowledge of their camera

Cameras not provided, please bring your own - DSLR or compact (gear should be kept to a minimum)

Numbers on the Day

There is a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 participants required for this workshop.

Weather

In the event of inclement weather you will be contacted early that morning to advise that the workshop will not operate. Otherwise, you should assume the workshop will operate as scheduled. In the event of cancellation, you can select an alternative workshop.

Dress Code

It is recommended to dress for the weather with loose comfortable clothes and appropriate footwear for walking

We recommend a DSLR to get the most benefit from this photography workshop.

Fantastic immersive learning experience.

It was great to become a tourist in my own city. I saw things from a totally new perspective and learnt so much about capturing the way people go about their daily lives.

The Sydney Street photography adventure was even better than I had hoped for...a friendly, knowledgable guide and 'tutor', a small group, and learning to see the city from new and varying perspectives made for a great day out.
