Experience this once in a lifetime dolphin encounter! This 3.5 hours cruise departs from Glenelg early in the morning, to give you the best chance to see these amazing cruises. As if that wasn't enough, you'll hop into the water to actually swim with the dolphins in their natural habitat.

Your swim with dolphins experience begins at 7:45am sharp when you arrive at the boat - a 58ft colossal sailing catamaran. As soon as you board, the professional and enthusiastic crew will make you feel welcome and also excited about the adventure you are about to encounter. A briefing is then conducted by one of the expert crew which includes what to expect, what to do and not to do and for those who have never snorkelled, a demonstration is given.

The boat departs the marina at approx. 8:00am , sometimes within minutes you get to see the first dolphins of the day, which seem to come out of nowhere to play and frolic around the hulls. For the swimmers - The interaction can amazingly last over an hour; however, this is sometimes spread over three or four swims with different pods of dolphins. The first time you see them underwater it takes your breath away. Their grace and playfulness is stunning and the sounds of their whistles and echo location noises are mesmerising. For the watchers - Not everyone wishes to get into the water, however, even from the vessel the dolphins seem just out of reaching distance, enabling you to enjoy and capture on film their playful displays.

This cruise is about being with wild dolphins in their natural environment, every cruise and swim is different, please note that the dolphins are not fed or enticed in anyway.

Guidelines

Minimum age to swim with dolphins is nine years
Children of any age are welcome on the boat to view the dolphins from the deck
The largest wetsuit size is a 4XL
Participants must be able to hold onto a floatation line in the water whilst the boat moves at a slow pace, and be able to get themselves in and out of the water using a step ladder
Moderate level of fitness required
Basic swimming skills are recommended
Please note you will be provided with a full length 5mm thick wet suit - this must be worn and if you have your own wet suit that you want to use is must be at least 5mm thick

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

This cruise runs with a maximum of 24 swimmers and 26 watchers - 50 people in total

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience may still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider or if it is cancelled the provider will contact you direct.

Dress Code

Please wear bathers, a towel, hat, sunscreen, a camera, warm clothes (for after your swim), and any snacks or drinks you may want. Please note there are no snacks or refreshments provided on the cruise.

Other Info

This experience is not available in June, July or August. Dolphins are wild and free to swim wherever they wish. There is a high probability that you will see dolphins, however this cannot be guaranteed. This makes the experience all the more special when you do see dolphins.

This experience departs from Holdfast Shores, Marina Pier, Glenelg, SA 5045, located at the bottom of the stairs/ramp in front of The Oyster Bar.

Best day out swimming with wild dolphins

I cannot recommend the staff highly enough for their help and support getting into the net and being able to experience the wonder of seeing wild dolphins swim out in front of the bow. Best experience ever with my daughter

This was an amazing experience where we not only got to watch dolphins playing on the waves but also swim with them out the back of the boat & watch them underwater on the net at the front of the boat. This was made even better by having such lovely well-educated staff full of info & happy to answer questions. A wonderful way to see the Adelaide coastline, highly recommend.

A good level of mobility required as you have to sit on the deck. A good level of fitness is required for going underneath the vessel to swim and view the dolphins under water. A great day. Loved it.
