Looking for a new way to see the coast of Western Australia? Perfect for beginners, this sea kayak tour is the perfect way to get up close and personal with the wildlife and marine life in the Shoalwater Marine Park, while taking in views of sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

You will meet in Safety Bay where your tour operator will be in a silver car clearly marked, Capricorn Seakayaking and towing a trailer load of yellow sea kayaks. On arrival, you will be fitted out with a sun shirt, hat, life-jacket and snorkelling gear. After a quick kayaking lesson from an experienced guide on the beach, you will head out!

Your guide will share local knowledge as you see sea lions, pelican colony, rugged islands and beautiful beaches. After all that kayaking, we are pretty sure you will have worked up a bit of an appetite, we will have healthy picnic brunch at Penguin Island. Sometimes we see dolphins, but unfortunately can not guarantee sightings every tour. (they are wild animals and swim much quicker than our kayaks!)

This tour is a great sampler of what sea kayaking is like but at a gentler pace to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your kayaking experience! Relax as you take in stunning views from the water's edge.

Session Length

This experience is approximately six hours in duration
This tour is available seven days a week from late September to May
Departs at 8am
Returns to Shoalwater at approximately 1.30pm to 2pm

Guidelines

To participate in this tour you will need to be at least eight years of age
Please note if you weigh over 100 kilograms please advise the tour operator at the time of booking
All children under 18 years of age need to be accompanied by a paying adult
Due the cockpit size capacity of the double sea kayaks there is a weight limit of 115kgs per person

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Minimum of three participants required and operates with a maximum of 20.

Weather

This tour maybe cancelled due to bad weather. Your tour operator will contact you in the evening on the day prior to your booking to reschedule.

Dress Code

Please come dressed in bathers and board shorts/quick dry shorts that may get wet. It is recommended to bring a warm layer on cool days, especially in spring and autumn. The experience provider can supply long sleeve sun shirts (rashies) and broad-brim hats; you are welcome to bring your own if you have them. Please bring personal drinking water and sunblock.

Other Info

The experience provider will supply mask and snorkel from late November to late March. Snorkelling is offered in the warmer summer months when conditions are suitable.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this day and the care and effort the guides put into making the experience unforgettable. Such a wonderful way to see the natural beauty of Seal and Pengiun island. The lunch was very tasty, fresh and homemade. The guides went above and beyond for us. Thanks so much for the great time!

The wealth of experience from the guides of this tour shines through and we felt so safe in their hands. Open sea kayaking can be worrying for some but once you get briefed and begin to trust Jimmy with all of his experience you will gain the confidence to venture into the wild!

Such a great experience! The guides are well educated on the area and very professional. We didn’t stop laughing or smiling the entire time. Definitely an 11/10 adventure. Highly recommend. Such a great way to see a part of Rockingham I wouldn’t of otherwise knew existed.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on this tour as we got to kayak past Seal Island where we saw lots of seals and pelicans and some seals even swam around our kayaks! We were lucky enough to see a dolphin too, and the tour guide was spontaneous enough to allow us to follow the dolphin via kayak instead of sticking to a tour schedule. It was really nice to see the penguins and walk around the island. The tour guide is well experienced with this island and knew good snorkel spots and the history of the island well. I learnt a lot from this tour from the information he gave and also got to try new experiencing with the snorkeling that I wouldn't have done before. I personally would have actually liked more time snorkeling, but either way there was enough time at the end of the tour to allow you to venture the island yourself and then meet back to kayak back to the mainland. I really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone that is adventurous and wanting to try something different.

This was an excellent experience and Elijah was really informative about the eco-system and wildlife. We got to see the sea lions and were lucky enough to have a few swiming around our kayaks. Even saw a dolphin! All inclusions were great - morning tea, afternoon tea, snorkling and touring around on the kayak. Suitable for all fitness abilities and experience. Would highly recommend!

Our guide was brilliant in instructing how to kayak, having insiders knowledge about the best places to see seals, wild penguins hiding away on the island & where to see sea life when snorkeling. Weather was great, they will call you on the day to cancel if there is bad weather as its not worth doing it. Truely worth it!

The tour was really nice. The staff were friendly and knew a lot about the wildlife and the history of the islands which was interesting. Quite relaxing with an adequate amount of free time. Loved that the talk on the penguins by the staff at Penguin Island was included. The only issue was that when we initially booked the tour was cancelled and we were not informed. This was quite disappointing.
