Learn how to make beautiful, scented soy candles with this fun class. This hands-on lesson will teach you the basics of soy candle making. Educational, interactive and a chance to make new friends, these classes are designed for eco-friendly people who love working with natural materials.

In the class, each person will choose two fragrances and two colours to use during the session. You will make two soy container candles, tea lights and oil burner melts, which you will take home. After completing this class, you will have the opportunity to purchase candle making supplies and the have confidence to go home and make candles. All notes and class information will be provided.

This class is also a great way for you to tap into your creativity, have fun, relax and meet like-minded people. The soy wax you will be using contains no lead, no petroleum, no chemical/synthetic fixatives or glosses, no animal products/by-products, and you'll use Zinc free, all natural wicks. The plant wax is 100% biodegradable and produces very little soot with 0% petrol-soot emissions. Soy wax burns cooler so it's safer, burns up to 50% longer and has a better fragrance throw. It's water-soluble and can easily be cleaned up, making recycling possible.

Session Length

Minimum 2 - 2.5 hours depending on class size
Classes run on most Saturday's all year round and start time varies so check confirmation - normally 9.15am

Guidelines

Must be 18 years old or over
Participants must be a minimum age 12 years if accompanied by parent or guardian

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Maximum 16 people per class.

Dress Code

Closed shoes with rubber sole (strictly no sandals or heels).

Other Info

After the workshop you will have the opportunity to purchase candle making supplies.

Location

This experience takes place in Coburg North, which is 20 minutes north of Melbourne's CBD.

I had a ball. I've always wanted to make my own candles and have been doing a lot of web research and got so confused, my husband booked me in it was perfect. With candles it really pays to take a class and Kylie was awesome and so genuine and helpful. I have already passed on the info to a colleague for his wife xmas pressy. The Live in Spirit Scented Soy Candle Making Workshop was a wonderful experience. The workshop was conducted in a very pleasant room on the first floor of the premises. All supplies for making a room spray, candle, tea lights and melts were provided as well as the tools and colours to complete our candle-making. We took home everything we made. Our instructor, Kylie, not only stepped us through the process of making our candles but provided in-depth information about the science of wax, wicks, fragrances etc. This was invaluable for those seeking to set up their own business. Would highly recommend this experience.

My mum and I attended this class together and we both really enjoyed learning all of the different aspects of candle making. It was fun, easy and we loved how our candles came out. Experimenting with colours and scents was one of the best parts! Great class for those looking at candle making as a hobby or to start a business.

I thoroughly enjoyed the candle making course, it was very practical and you receive a fabulous take home bag with all the info you need. I also enjoyed the extras of making a linen spray and perfume. Really good content and very professionally delivered.

Kylie is a terrific workshop presenter! She really did give us so much of her knowledge accumulated over her many years of candle making. Thank you! My only negative is the participant number - I felt there were too many people there for the space. 12 would be optimal.

I couldn't believe how much we learned, benefiting from the experiences of their decade's learnings. And it wasn't just candles, but the foundations for air fresheners and perfumes. I loved it. Step by step, supported through each aspect of making different size candles. Very informative on how to make safe candles and what to look out for in purchased ones. And you get to come home with your own beautiful smelling candles and room spray. Definitely great for anyone who wants to make candles as a hobby or start a small business as information covers this also!
