Craig 27 September 2025

The boat crew were excellent and fun, we saw lots of animals and the 1.45 hour trip only felt like 10 minutes because we enjoyed ourselves so much and the time flew by.

A lovely day out

Jessica 28 October 2023

We had beautiful weather on the day, perfect for taking in the stunning views around the island. As someone who hasn't ridden a bike in years, the 3-speed bike was basic enough to be user-friendly, but still versatile enough to tackle the (many) hills. I do wish the staff of the Rottnest Express could have done a quick primer on using the bikes and locks. We were rushed through collection on the jetty, then let loose without any instructions. While it was certainly easy and intuitive enough to figure out without any help, less experienced riders (like me) may be a little overwhelmed at first and make mistakes like setting the seat at the wrong height, which can detract from the experience. A little expectation-setting: quokkas are nocturnal. It's at least a 90-minute ride to the island, so you don't arrive until mid-morning (around 10:30am), when they're mostly in hiding. I noticed more coming out around 2-3pm, possibly helped by increased cloud cover cooling things down after around 1pm (note that this was late October, i.e. middle of spring—I don't know if they behave differently at other times of year). You'd probably see far more near sunset, but with the ferry leaving at 5pm, you'll be off the island well before that except maybe in winter (June/July/August). Overall, I'd say this is a great way to see some of the island and meet a few quokkas, but unless you ride really well, you're unlikely to get around the whole island. There are also a lot of tracks that you can't take bikes on that lead to great views and birdwatching spots, and there are lots of snorkelling spots too, so if you would really like to see everything, you're going to need a lot more time than the ~6 hours that this experience allows.

Whale Watching did not disappoint!

Christine Newman 12 September 2023

I was on the Adventure Boat / Whale Watching cruise Saturday 9th September. It was AMAZING, mother and calf humpback whales putting on a show and then circling the boat. We got to see tail slapping, fin waving, breeches, spouting and general whale type behaviour 😁. The spectacular day set of the backdrop of cathedral rocks and NZ fur seals beautifully!

Wonderful day at Rotto

Very pleasant ferry trip and a great day of biking around the island. We’d read bad reviews about the bikes but they were functional and that was good enough for the day. The perfect active couples day out.

Adventure Tour of Rottnest Island was Fantastic

Eric 24 April 2022

Caught the Rottnest Express from Perth CBD to Rottnest Island. Jumped on the Adventure Boat for the 90 minute tour an hour after we arrived. Great Commentary and plenty of tme for photos at each stop. Also stopped a couple of times near pods of Dolphins. Fast runs between stops was great for its sense of speed. Back to the Jetty at 1:30pm so we had 3 and half hours to do some exploring on the Island proper.

The thrill boat ride

I would recommend it to anyone to visit WA as I'm from Queensland and I enjoyed it immensely
