Retro Video Game museum, Perth

Jayson 6 December 2024

I took my 12yo son, who is into gaming, to give him some perspective on how good video games are these days. Surprisingly, I was totally in my own “growing up era” heaven … Atari, Taito, Sega … PONG! It was such an awesome throwback to my pre-teen and teen years. To think we used to play games in the 80s that had better graphics than Minecraft does now !! We both had such a blast … two hours absolutely flew past before we even noticed it. Would definitely go back.

The staff member went above and beyond with customer service, helping us get our pram up the stairs and keeping an eye on it so we could explore the museum and gaming lounge. a great collection of consoles, and the ability to play whatever game your heart desires!

Terrific museum and overall experience.

A brilliant day! Really interesting to learn about the evolution of the consoles from the early '70s and the growth of the industry a few years later and what role each console played in it. Heaps of consoles out to play as well with plenty that I had not heard of including and extremely old and rudimentary Pong console. Staff member working was terrific as well. Clearly loves his job which is so important in a gig like this and made it a really comfortable environment to hang out it.

Great place.

Awesome place to visit and play some older games. Huge variety of consoles with an impressive amount of games for them. Guy that runs the place was fantastic, always getting around making sure everything was working properly and more than happy to change a game over for us. Excellent experience.

School holidays at Nostalgia Box always a winner

John 3 October 2019

My son and I love The Nostalgia Box, and we have made it a usual activity for the school holidays. As a Gen X, myself, it’s nice to reminisce over the old gaming consoles in the museum, while sharing my own experiences with my son. There really is quite an impressive collection to look at, and I understand it’s still growing. They have free to play games, as part of the entry cost to the museum - which to be honest is the main reason my son wants to go there! The place is very close to Perth train station - 3 minute walk away, so easy to get the train to the city and visit. Likewise it’s in the heart of Northbridge so easy to stop somewhere for lunch before or after your visit. Really helpful, informative and friendly staff. Great value for money. You won’t regret visiting!
