Main Description

Your friendly instructor will go through complete ground briefings before we take to the air in a recreational aircraft.

During your flights in the local area you will learn to fly the aircraft under the close supervision of your experienced instructor. This will give you a 'feel' for the machine in its natural environment and you will find it surprisingly easy. You will only be asked to do things the instructor knows you can easily accomplish and absorb. During your flights you can relax in the knowledge that your Instructor will handle the landing at the end of the flights.

The time spent flying counts towards your Pilot Certificate, Recreational Pilot Licence, Private Pilot Licence or even your Commercial Pilot Licence.

Important information

Session Length

2 x 60 minute pre-flight briefings, including safety checks of the aircraft. 2 x 60 minute flying time. 2 x 15 minute post-flight de-briefings. Allow 6-7 hours in total.

Restrictions

You must sign-up for FREE TEMPORARY MEMBERSHIP to Recreational Aviation Australia at raaus.com.au/members/ If you are ineligible for membership because you have either previously been a Temporary Member or you have flown more than 3 hours on your current Temporary Membership, then you will need to call us before booking this flight so that we can make alternative arrangements.

Guidelines

Max weight is 90kg, minimum age is 14 years
Minumum height is 150 cm, maximum height is 195cm

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

You will be one on one with your flight instructor.

Weather

In the event of poor weather conditions we will reschedule your flight.

Dress Code

Comfortable clothes including enclosed shoes. Please bring sunglasses and a cap. Please remove all ear rings.

Other Info

During the summer months we recommend flying before 1pm simply for passenger comfort.

Location

Hangar 605 Victa Avenue, Archerfield Airport. This is about 20 min drive south from Brisbane CBD.

Perfect, engaging, informative and exhilarating

Just awesome, interesting ground work covered before flight, with the information delivered in a concise and engaging way, the first flight was awesome and the student is given plenty of opportunity to try their hand at flying, the first hour flight goes so quickly and you have time for a break before you're back in the classroom preparing for the next flight which is even more breathtaking than the last. I came down and just couldn't wait to get back up in the air again! A great start for any budding pilot.

I have always wanted to fly a plane and this experience gave me that opportunity. It is surreal being up in the air and in control of your own movements. I could not stop smiling and hopefully I'll be back soon to actually continue with my pilot training!

I was a little nervous when I saw the aircraft "Sling 2" being so small ( used to Cessna 172) but what a great aircraft it turned out to be! Only 6 weeks old with glass cockpit instrumentation and the most advanced diagnostics and warnings that I have seen on light plane! This plane gave a great view, plenty of get up and go and felt very safe. I am not convinced that I am ready to sign up for my Pilots licence just yet however if I do, I would be very happy to learn with Pathfinder and their Sling 2.

This was by far one of the best days I've ever had.

I had 2 full flight lessons in a recreational aircraft. My female instructor was excellent. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who has ever thought about learning the controls in a small aircraft. It has given me a much greater appreciation for flying - for the skills behind the design and of a small plane - the safety checks as well as and intro to the technical skills required to fly. In addition to all this, it is a lovely way to view your home town. I felt I had plenty of hands on time to improve my beginner skills in handling the controls.

Had a great day with Hanson. Both lessons were taped so I could show friends and family and also so I could review the lessons. We flew out over the bay during both flights. Was great to take the controls! Would love to do more lessons. Only too happy to take their time to teach and make sure you have an understanding of aspects of flight. Communication to organise the day was excellent.
