Birgit 13 June 2024 Due to work commitments and covid lockdowns our Picnic Among the Vines Gift Voucher we had received from family a long time ago was almost forgotten when we rediscovered it and opted to book the experience, travelling to the Hunter Valley over a long weekend shortly before the voucher would expire. Even though it was winter, it was an excellent experience and I can certainly recommend it. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly until all four couples for our selected timeslot had arrived. A small history tour was next, followed by premium wine tasting of reds and whites after which we could select the bottle for your picnic or make purchases to take home. Audrey Wilkinson staff was very friendly, helpful and just amazing. The choice to select a nice spot for your picnic is left to each couples preferences, it all depends on how far one may wish to walk along those vast and wonderful vineyards. The food basket contained a lovely Italian style picnic lunch that was complemented by our selected bottle of Audrey Wilkinson wine The loan of a picnic blanket and picnic basket with firm timber lids to use as a table for our wine glasses made the experience even better. We were ever so lucky to have booked this event on a lovely sunny winter day. If you book in winter, just dress for winter and you will certainly end up having a great experience! The tour and history lesson were both very interesting, and obviously the wine tasting was the highlight of the experience. The picnic lunch was ample for 2 people, so much so that we had to take some of it away with us, along with the bottle of wine. I had never been to that winery before, but I will be sure to go back.
