Step into the crystal-clear waters of Coffin Bay and discover oysters from the inside out. Your experience begins with the fascinating history of oyster farming in the region and how Coffin Bay became one of Australia’s most celebrated oyster destinations. As you wade out to our semi-submerged Salt Water Pavilion, your guide will walk you through the entire farming process — from tiny baby oysters to fully grown premium oysters ready for harvest. You’ll see the different stages up close and gain insight into how they are cultivated in these pristine waters. Then comes the highlight: learning how to safely shuck your own oysters. With guidance, you’ll open them yourself before enjoying six fresh oysters and four Spencer Gulf prawns, perfectly paired with a glass of wine or beer. It’s hands-on, immersive and unforgettable.
There is a minimum of two and maximum of 24 perople per tour.
Rescheduling very occasionally may occur due to weather and tide changes.
Please dress according to the weather. You will be seated out in the water, so if its hot, please bring a hat. For winter tours, it would be beneficial to wear warm clothing, and bring a scarf and beanie. Please bring socks to get into/ out of the waders. Please bring a pair of socks to wear in the waders.
