Merimbula is known as one of the world's best whale watching destinations, with tens of thousands of humpback whales passing by this spectacular region as part of their annual migration journey from the Great Barrier Reef to Antarctica. There is absolute magic in spotting whales thriving in their natural habitat and this tour allows you to see just that. You'll depart from Merimbula Public Jetty aboard a large tourist vessel with a professional crew boasting with over 19 years of experience, knowledge and passion for these majestic creatures.

From August to November, you'll quickly spot them playing right in Merimbula Bay within minutes of departing out to sea. From August and early September, you'll be able to watch fascinating lunge feeding displays and in late September through to mid November, you'll see new baby calves swimming by with their mothers. Some days you'll spot a few passing by and other days you'll watch hundreds, but however little or many - whale sightings are guaranteed and an amazing sight to behold! Come with an open mind and an adventurous spirit, ready for an adventure of a lifetime!

Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure
Unfortunately, the boat is not able to wait if you are running late

Guidelines

We strongly recommend that you take sea sickness prevention tablets before boarding the boat if you are prone to sea sickness. Please visit your chemist to discuss options available to you
This tour operates over a sandbar and as such there may be times when the departure time may vary due to the depth of the sandbar and the tide. In these instances you will be notified in advance
Please note this is an "adventure" tour and is conducted out on the ocean where it can be wet and windy
This tour is not recommended for children under 4 years of age

Cancellation

Once this experience has been confirmed, changes are at the discretion of the experience provider and arranged directly with them according to this policy:

Cancelations within 24 hours of the booking departure will receive no refund
Cancelations within 48 hours of the booking departure will receive a 50% refund
Cancelations more than 48 hours prior to the booking departure receive a refund of 80%

Numbers on the Day

There is a minimum of 10 people.

Weather

All tours subject to suitable ocean and weather conditions. Tours may be cancelled if the wind is too strong or swell too large. Rainy conditions or forecast do not necessarily result in cancellation.

Dress Code

Please wear flat, covered shoes, bring warm clothing, wet weather jacket, hat and sunglasses.

Whale of a time

River and the crew ran a fantastic tour. We almost immediately saw wildlife (seals/dolphins) and then came the whales!! So many sightings and tail flaps and a few breaches.
