Between bites, learn about the history of Chinese immigrants in the city and how they’ve created their own distinct “Melbourne-Chinese” cuisine. Enjoy a small-group experience with personalized attention and a chance to know your fellow dumpling lovers. You'll visit 4 delicious venues over 3 hours – all in central Melbourne. The walk is designed to show you a range of different dumplings at some of Melbourne's most authentic places. We think they’re a collection of the best dumplings in town - you won’t be disappointed!

Important information

Session Length

The tour runs Wednesday evenings from 6pm - 9:00pm. You will visit four venues - 30 minutes at each venue.

Guidelines

Vegetarians are well catered for. Other dietary requirements (such as kosher or gluten intolerant) will find it difficult. Please advise supplier of any special dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

This tour requires a minimum of 4 people to run. Tour groups are kept to a maximum of 10 participants on any one tour (except as otherwise arranged).

Weather

If heavy rain is forecast, the tour will be rescheduled. The tour will run if light rain or showers are predicted, but please bring a jacket on those days.

Delicious dumpling discovery

What an incredible thing to do. Andrew was our guide and what a wealth of knowledge he possess. Not only did we get to eat way too many scrumptious dumplings but we learned their history and origins and as a person born in Melbourne I also learned interesting facts about my city that I didn't know. At the end he also gave us a list of recommended places to visit. We will be going back to the restaurants we visited. The food was so good. Highly recommend.

It was fabulous! The guide, Nicole was informative but not pretentious. She made the tour interesting and fun. The dumplings were delicious. My partner and l would definitely go back to some of the restaurants for more. Our group was vibrant, friendly and international. I would most definitely recommend the your to all my friends.

My husband and I had a great night on this dumpling tour. Not only did we get to try dumplings at 4 different restaurants, but we learnt about the history of both Melbourne and dumplings from different regions which was super interesting. I'm glad they have this in Melbourne. Overall a very nice night and would highly recommend!

Fantastic night of sampling some of Melbourne’s dumpling havens! Really enjoyed the variety of not only the types of dumplings but also the different venues and their particular ambience…I mean who would have expected being served by a robot!! Sue was a really great chaperone who also introduced the historical connection between China, Melbourne and Australia and the simple dumpling. Met some great people, who also enjoyed a great experience that I would definitely recommend for a very interesting night out!!

The dumpling tour was an overall fantastic experience! It showed some hidden gems on Melbourne that I otherwise wouldn't have known existed. There was a very large variety of dumplings, and we left feeling very full! The tour guide, Sue, was very friendly and had lots of knowledge to share. Would definitely recommend!
