Head on an iconic three-hour journey on the Mary Valley Rattler, departing from Gympieâ€™s Historic Station, constructed in Queensland during the twentieth century. You'll enjoy a 2 course lunch along with beverages and a cheese board as you take in picturesque scenery from your VIP Shared Booth.

Kick off your Mary Valley adventure with a meet-and-greet with the train driver before enjoying priority pre-boarding and reserved booth seating on the Rattler 1038 Carriage. Take a seat and settle in for a 40km journey through the scenic Mary Valley, arriving at the charming town of Amamoor. Here, you can watch the train prepare for its return trip on the turntable, giving you a unique behind-the-scenes view. Enjoy a short break to explore the quaint town before heading back to the station.

As the journey continues, indulge in a local cheese plate and your favourite beverage, served by your personal attendant. To complete your experience, choose any lunch item from the â€˜Set Menuâ€™ along with a drink of your choice. To remember this historic and iconic train ride, youâ€™ll get to take home a souvenir cooler. All aboard for an unforgettable journey!

Session Length

Please check-in at Tour Desk at 8:15 am if you would like to enjoy breakfast in the Rusty Rails Cafe prior to departure
This experience departs from 9:00am on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday departures.
The duration of this experience is approximately 3 hours

Guidelines

Please indicate your meal preferences (Main & Dessert 1 selection per passenger) along with your beverage choice
Please check in 45 minutes prior to departure
Depending on the direction of the train guests will be travelling backwards for one direction of the trip
Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult
Children under 2 years of age not occupying a seat travel free, however if you would like a guaranteed seat for your child under 2, please book as a fare. Please ensure you note all children travelling under 2 at time of booking.
If you require assistance in boarding or have any medical issues that the operator needs to be aware of please contact them directly

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 7 days before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 7 days of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Weather

The operation of steam is subject to weather conditions, total fire ban, volunteer driver availability or situations out of the control of the Rattler Railway Company. At times there may be an operational necessity to change the scheduled engine.

Memorable train ride

We thoroughly enjoyed our vip train ride on the Mary Valley Rattler. Great morning tea cheese platter. Very informative and friendly volunteer staff. Lovely scenery. Old fashioned timber carriages gave you a feel of travelling in the past. When we returned to Gympie station we had a great lunch as well.

The whole day was great, starting with breakfast at the station, accompanied ba man playing the piano, right through to lunch on our return Everyone we came in contact with, the ladies serving snacks and meals and the many volunteers making this trip possible, were friendly, cheerful and informative. Well done to the whole team.
