Step back in time with a three hour heritage steam train journey through the beautiful Mary Valley, complete with a VIP shared booth, delicious local food and drinks. Travel aboard the restored Mary Valley Rattler as you pass through charming villages and quaint townships, cross the Mary River and stop at Amamoor, a picturesque country town.

Enjoy priority preboarding and an exclusive behind the scenes look at the train as it is prepared for its return journey on the turntable. Along the way, meet the friendly train driver and enjoy personalised service from your dedicated attendant.

The Rattler Tasting Train includes a delicious local cheese platter, with the option to enjoy a two course meal from the VIP set menu and a refreshing beverage at Rusty Rails Cafe. Combining historic rail travel, country hospitality and delicious local flavours, this is a unique way to experience the beauty and character of the Mary Valley.

Children under 16 years old must travel with a paying adult
Children under two years old travel free if they do not need a seat

If travelling with another booking, note who you are travelling with so seating can be arranged together

Memorable train ride

We thoroughly enjoyed our vip train ride on the Mary Valley Rattler. Great morning tea cheese platter. Very informative and friendly volunteer staff. Lovely scenery. Old fashioned timber carriages gave you a feel of travelling in the past. When we returned to Gympie station we had a great lunch as well.

The whole day was great, starting with breakfast at the station, accompanied ba man playing the piano, right through to lunch on our return Everyone we came in contact with, the ladies serving snacks and meals and the many volunteers making this trip possible, were friendly, cheerful and informative. Well done to the whole team.
