This magical cave is a natural time capsule; home to ancient fossil remains of long-extinct giant animals. Listen to a fascinating audio tour as you wander through its lofty chambers.

Explore the beautiful time capsule of Mammoth Cave on this self-guided tour, located in the Margaret River region in WA. You will be provided with informative audio while you wander the chambers at your own pace, providing you with amazing facts throughout. View ancient fossil remains such as the 50 000 year old 'zygomaturus' jawbone embedded in the cave wall, and a number of other remains of Australian Megafauna from 46 000 years ago. Enjoy a bushwalk back through the incredible marri and karri tree forest, breathing in the fresh air as you soak up all the nature.

Important information

  • Session length: Allow 1 hour
  • The cave is open from 9:00am - 5:00pm daily
  • Closed Christmas Day
  • The Mammoth Cave has a long boardwalk entrance from the valley on the eastern side of the cave
  • After the first chamber, there are about 370 steps staged throughout the remainder of the cave, and a climb of 170 steps to exit up through the ridge on the western side of the cave
  • Audio is available in English, French, German, Malay or Mandarin

    • Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
    • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

    The cave was amazing but the booking didn’t work

    We went to Mammoth cave and the booking from Red Ballon only showed my 4 year old as having a ticket. I had to get old confirmation emails to prove that I have two adults to accompany my son. Lucky the nice girl behind the desk helped us out otherwise it would of been a wasted drive down there. The Cave was so spectacular and beautiful. Would highly recommend visiting it. We will be going to another cave next visit to the SW as well
