Perched high on the escarpment overlooking the iconic Glasshouse Mountains, Maleny Botanic Gardens offers a tranquil escape in nature. Entry gives you access to a multitude of rainbow-coloured gardens, majestic waterfalls and lakes spread across 18 wonderful acres. Take your time as you weave through the property on foot and explore more of the six kilometres of walking paths on a buggy for one hour. Then, absorb all the soothing sounds of nature as you treat yourself to a picnic at one of the many idyllic spots sprinkled throughout the gardens. You'll also have the opportunity to be part of a walk-through, interactive guided tour at Maleny Botanic Gardens' 'Bird World.' Get up close to over 600 native and exotic birds from around the world as you stroll through four aviaries.

Important information

Session Length

This experience can take anywhere from one hour to all day, depending on how much time you would like to spend in the gardens
Available seven days a week from 9am-4:30pm, excluding Christmas Day
The booking time indicates your Bird World tour time. Please arrive 30 minutes before your tour.

Guidelines

A variety of nuts are used in all aviaries. If you have allergies please advise the provider prior to the tour
Birds diets are very unique and complicated. For the birds' safety, they can not allow any kind of food into the aviary as their diets are carefully monitored
The booking time indicates your Bird World tour time. Please arrive 30 minutes before your tour.

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

The Maleny Botanic Gardens Picnic& Bird Sanctuary

This was a lovely experience. However I was expecting a picnic to be supplied as the title suggested. The birds and commentary were very good and I would recommend that along with the use of the buggy to go through the gardens. A pleasant few hours.

The aviary was a great experience

Such a large aviary with so many species of birds. The staff were very friendly, gardens were well manicured. It was certainly something we will remember. To top it off we had a nice picnic lunch, and got to drive around the golf buggy to look at all the other things, rainforest walk, animal farm etc.

We had a great time. The picnic box for lunch was great and we had an awesome view as we relaxed and ate it. The gardens are lovely. The bird aviary tour was very good. The staff were lovely. We will definitely be going back
