Learn to fly a helicopter in Sydney! Grab the controls of a Robinson R22 helicopter and experience the thrill of flying for yourself. In safe hands, under the watchful eyes of a fully CASA-accredited helicopter flight instructor, you'll take to the skies for an exciting learning experience.
Turn your dreams of piloting a helicopter into a reality with this hands-on flying lesson. Your experience begins with a coffee and half hour video on the principles of helicopter flight, also detailing how the controls of the Robinson R22 aircraft are used. Next you'll be taken through how a pre-flight inspection of the helicopter is performed - this ensures there's no problems in-flight. Now it's time to fly! Board the helicopter and go through the start up procedure with your instructor, and next thing you know you'll be rising towards the sky. Your instructor will show you how to handle the controls individually and towards the end of your half hour in the air, you'll be flying the helicopter yourself! When you touch back down at base, you will shut down the aircraft and debrief on your experience. You now have bragging rights for life!
Note: If you don't want to take controls of the helicopter but would prefer to be flown, let the provider know well in advance and they'll arrange a pilot instead of an instructor at no extra cost to you.
For comfort and safety reasons, there is a 109kg weight limit. You need be over 160cm tall to reach the controls.
