Witness the breathtaking sight of humpback whales breaching off Lake Macquarie's stunning coast aboard the only dedicated whale-watching vessel in the area. You will depart from Chalmers Street Jetty near Swansea Bridge onboard a custom-built boat that offers shelter and optimal water-level viewing of marine life. Learn from an accredited guide about humpback whales and their migratory journey spanning 10,000 kilometres return from Antarctica to Tropical North Queensland. You might even spot other local marine life along the way such as long-nosed fur seals and common dolphins.

  • This experience is two hours in duration
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your departure time
  • This experience is available annually between the months of June and November
  • Bring along some warm clothing
  • If whales are not spotted each passenger will be entitled to a standby ticket enabling them to return within the same whale watching season
  • Not suitable for children aged under five years
  • Not recommended for those with back or heart problems, who are pregnant or who have other serious medical conditions
  • Change your booking up to 48 hours before the start time of your experience
  • Changes are not permitted within 48 hours of your experience
  • Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

    This experience is a maximum of 12 people.

    This experience will be rescheduled or cancelled in the unlikely event of poor weather.

    Guests should wear warm clothing and enclosed shoes.

    Best whale watching cruise I’ve taken. Dom was lovely, very quickly helping when I booked the wrong date, also a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. The boat is not perfect for whale watching, comfortable seats and lots of fun zipping across the water. Loved every second!
