During this kayaking tour you will can have the privilege of seeing the local wild dolphins, stingrays, turtles and a wide variety of sea birds! Your guides are local Surf Life Savers and are committed to environmental issues, working closely with the local wildlife and marine researchers of the area. You will learn about Aboriginal history and culture, the life cycles of sea turtles, dolphins and whales, and practical ways that you can help the fragile environment.

This experience is part of the Responsible range because they are Advanced ECO certified with Ecotourism Australia and hold the ‘Recognising Our Culture’ certification.

Session Length

This experience is approximately two to two hours and 30 minutes with a 15 minute briefing
Please arrive 25 minutes prior to departure

Guidelines

Minimum age of five years
Participants must be able to swim at least 20m unassisted to participate in this experience
Not recommended for women 16 weeks or more pregnant
Non swimmers can participate
This activity requires a moderate level of physical fitness
You will be emailed your waiver form prior to the tour

Cancellation

Change your booking up to 24 hours before the start time of your experience
Changes are not permitted within 24 hours of your experience
Late arrivals or no shows may result in you forfeiting your experience

Numbers on the Day

Maximum of 30 participants in the group with four instructors.

Weather

In the event of rain or inclement weather your experience will still go ahead unless contacted by the experience provider. If we have strong winds or large ocean waves we may be forced to cancel and will contact you to let you know.

Dress Code

Casual and comfortable outdoor clothing is recommended, and bring swimmers and a towel, drinking water, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.

Other Info

You will be required to sign a waiver before participating in this experience. You will get completely wet during this tour.

Amazing Experience

More often than not, we forget to be a tourist in our own town or state. It was a last-minute decision to jump on this tour and it is one of the best experiences I have had in a very long time. The team looked after us in every aspect, showing immense patience, safety & respect to everyone involved. They were highly educated in all areas, respectful to the environment & wildlife, had plenty of laughs... and I have never seen so many dolphins so close and jumping around us! I believe this was very approachable for people of all fitness levels and would highly recommend booking in.

Safety was a priority to the instructors. Our tour was cut short due to the weather turning quickly and full refunds were offered.

I received a gift voucher from my sister for my 60th birthday from Red Balloon to go sea kayaking at Byron Bay & it was a truly amazing experience. The tour is run by the most capable, experienced & informative guides that really know their business. We had everything in our favour perfect weather & calm surf made for easy paddling on the bay & the guides took us out amongst dolphins playing & feeding in the beautiful clear Pacific We had several close up interactions with inquisitive dolphins some breaching beside our kayaks seemingly just to say g’day. On our return paddle Luke our lead guide had our entire flotilla stop paddling & form up into a tight raft of kayaks & wait quietly as he had spotted a humpback whale. The whale then breached a few metres from our group several times before heading out to sea. It’s humbling to think we were on the worlds biggest ocean in the smallest of watercraft powered by our arms right beside one of the biggest creatures in the ocean. An amazing & humbling experience. I will be going back & I would highly recommend this tour & if you would like to give someone a special gift then I would recommend Red Balloon

Being at water level with the dolphins and whales is so unique, a much different experience to being in a boat. I would highly recommend an adventure like this

The team and the experience was awesome! We had a small group with informative instructors. We also came into contact with a pod of dolphins and saw many of them as close as 10m away! Be mindful however, that there is an element of fitness required, I'm a fit 20 y/o and found paddling through the sea quite demanding at some points.
